[All Platforms] Cloud Files

Today we have 'Local files' that allow us to include, well, local files in our playlists etc. And this works well on my local machine. But as I have a home machine, work machine, my phone and my wife's phone these files are not available across them all. So I would love to see a 'Cloud files' feature. 

Cloud files would allow me to upload/sync my local music online (either to Spotifys own servers or using a 'hook' to Apple/Google/others) and then those files would be equaled to music provided by Spotify.

I would clearly pay extra for this option (30 NOK pr. month?).

It's utterly rubbish. I signed up with spotify specifically to access the "millions of tunes" in the marketing rubbish. All's I'm able to access is a playlist that I can only use via my tablet and the what's new which is poor, poor, poor, poor service

I'd really like to get some feedback from the devs on this one. As many are pointing out, Google are offering this, and whilst it's true that their UI is supported on less platforms, and their collection might have fewer songs than Spotify's, those two issues are trivial for a company such as Google, and it won't be long before they catch up on both fronts.

Spotify - I'd get working on this one quickly if I were you!

There is currently NO solution to use local files via Spotify Connect. A couple of weeks ago I've bought a AV-Reciever which supports Spotify Connect. It's a great feature and it's working really good. But it's not perfect (for me...), I'm not able to stream local files ... it's a pity! I don't think that Spotify will be able to provide ALL music one day. So from my point of view the vision should be to enable the user to mix up local music and Spotify music (using a cloud ...). Then it would be perfect! Otherwise I will have to try alternative streaming services ... That would be a pity because I love Spotify!!!

The current local file sync process is not ideal for mobile users that do  not have access to a desktop/laptop. At the very least it would be nice to use " Open In" for audio files on iOS devices. This would allow me to move an audio file from my NAS, for example, directly into the Spotify app for listening, storing, adding to playlists, etc. Spotify's library is massive and continues to grow but it's the out-of-print titles I want access to without the current sync process.

I'm considering ending my Spotify premium subscription at the end of this month due to this feature alone.

What Spotify has over Google Play is:

1. Larger community

2. Integration with Facebook (which further increases #1)

3. Desktop application

4. Better interface (IMO) on all devices

But what it doesn't have is cloud upload. After testing Google Play for almost a month now, I'm considering switching.

Spotify, WAKE UP! Get back in the game. "local music" is great but this is 2014, we don't want "only local" music, we want cloud music. And everything local we want to turn into the cloud. I sincerely hope Spotify will rethink their stand on this matter and do something, I know I'll stay on Spotify if they get this feature.

This should be the most important feature on your roadmap! There are so many artists in my iTunes Library that are not on Spotify. And no, syncing all these albums to my iPhone/iPad ist not an option... Why is it so hard to understand the point of view of users wo wish for this feature? Even Google Music has this feature and Spotify does have so much more experience in the streaming-market.

This is an essential update to the current Spotify. I love the "Your Music" feature, but what's the point if you can't upload all of your mp3s from iTunes?

I agree with most here. It's a necessary update that needs to be implemented. Even if it was just 2Gb of space per user. There's a lot of artists that are not listed on Spotify, but I'd like to listen to their songs. However, that means I have to truck those artists around to each device I use (example: Bob Seger and Garth Brooks, only covers are listed).

Just here on a trial came over from Google music, the web interface is loads better on spotify but its missing the cloud music feature like google has. Even some sort of proper syncing method would suffice. Bit of a deal breaker.

I'm also ending my Spotify Premium subscription because of this alone. I've discovered that Google allows cloud storage, and it's 100% a deal breaker over Spotify for me. I'll continute using Spotify Free, and gladly start paying again when cloud storage is added, as I defnitely prefer the interface, discovery features, social stuff, etc.
