[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

Hi, I would appreciate not opening my Spotify in the morning and having Spotify tell me it thinks I would love to listen to a 48-minute long defence of transphobia. Why is this an 'episode for me?' How can I get rid of it?

My life would be a lot better if I could get rid of the 'shows for you" line. It shows podcast that I would never listen to due to lack of interest or explicit content...of which it is recommending! Please get this to go away!

Status: Not Right Now.

With nearly 12k likes. lol. And that's just the people who voted. You could safely say that only 1 in 100 people who want this voted.

This is also the third most popular idea.

Dear Spotify Team,

As a loyal user of your music streaming platform, I appreciate the vast array of features and content that your product offers. However, I would like to bring to your attention an issue that I believe affects the user experience for some users.

Currently, the home screen of the platform reflects the content that we play and sometimes this does not represent our personal preferences. This can be frustrating and even annoying for users, particularly when it comes to mental wellness. Additionally, the home screen sometimes displays duplicate content with my library that can be confusing and cluttered.

I suggest that you include a feature that allows users to customize their home screen, and that this feature should exclude any duplicate content that appears in our library. The content that is displayed on the home screen should also be based on what we like, rather than what we have played recently. This will help users to discover new content that they will enjoy and provide a more personalized experience.

I believe that this feature will enhance the user experience and improve the mental wellness of your users, as it will provide a more accurate reflection of their personal preferences. Thank you for your attention to this suggestion.

Spotify listen to your users, please enable this feature.

Just because I listen to a podcast 1x doesn't mean I want to see it on my feed forever.

100% agree. As so many of us are realizing how we are becoming marketing tools we are pushing back. For example I have listened to a few political podcasts in the past but don't want to do it any longer.  It's content I now realize I truly don't want to consume. It's frustrating because it's like technology is circumventing our pause reaction and making it difficult to say no.  We should have a right to say "No, please don't try to sell me this"

Imagine if an alcoholic constantly had beer put in front of him but was told shame on you for drinking it. Even though He did everything he could do to avoid it.  Let those of us who want to avoid our addictions do so while using your service. PLEASE!!!

It's not like we can go out and buy a CD anymore.  We really don't have many other options.

Look, to not be able to have some level of controls as to what appears on ones own homepage in a paid cor app is really obnoxious. Sick to the back of my teeth of looking at podcasts that were **bleep** and “recommendations” I have no interest in.

Why on earth should this not already be in place?

i ageee with the guy(whatever his name was) i aswell have 2 podcats which im not even foolowing in my home, im never going to listen to them and they just take up space and annoy me

I've moved on, cancelled my subscription, exported my data and deleted my account.

Until people vote with their "digital feet" it seems there will be no move - this topic is there    f o r    y e a r s   and still alive, and there seems to be no solutions in sight. Perhaps there is more cash to be made by pushing unwanted content rather than giving access to  actually desired content and a customisable experience.

Who knows ?
