[Discord] Display Podcasts

Spotify activity is displayed on Discord. However, when you listen to podcasts instead of music, it doesn't. I think it should.

I really want this, this needs to be a feature because it can show people that your listening to something and it's annoying if your explaining how podcasts don't show up on discord but music does, and that your in fact listening to something. I would really like to see this being pushed.

I noticed that sometimes my Discord status shows podcasts, then it just disappears. I can't find a pattern. I don't know why or how it works and then doesn't.  Maybe something about how Discord and Spotify are interacting on mobile? Please just fix it already!

I agree with Petro86, sometimes it shows podcasts, but disappears after changing song, and won't display again if I play the same podcast. Here, I have a screenshot.

*UPDATE*

I think I found the pattern. When you open a game with normal presence, not a rich one which shows more info about the game, the podcast pops up, and you can close the game. Of course it will disappear after the podcast ends and you have to do the same things over to make it appear. It looks very fixable but for now a custom presence can be created to do this automatically. Would love to see this issue fixed.

I don't know why it's not here already, the music rich presence already exists, adding the podcast one should be just a matter of few lines of code. Litteraly 3 minutes of work to include all streams flagged as "podcast" (not counting the analysis part to find where to put those lines if the code is a mess).

I mean, theoretically it should be easy, but it depends of how the Open/Closed Principle has been respected by the devs.

As far as I know, the rather new Music Presence Discord app is also able to show your podcast listening, but does not have a Listen Along feature yet. It works for many media players and streaming sites including Spotify. It is available on GitHub.

Perfect synergy with Spotify and the official Spotify integration! Podcasts can be shown in your status with the title "Listening to a Podcast", while the official Spotify integration doesn't show podcasts. You can also just use Music Presence for Spotify podcasts and use the official Spotify integration for music.
