[Music] Custom Start & Ending Times for a Track

Hi.

I'm a big electronic music lover and there is only one feature i would like added to spotify. The option to choose a part of the track i would like to play and have the settings saved.

In the world of electronic music there is almost allways 2-3 minute build ups, and not many radio mixes of each track.

This can be a problem when having a party and a track lasts for 7 minutes with 3 of them is a buildup that not everyone would like to listen to.

It would be nice to have a feature like this that i can change on each track, just drag 2 buttons to a start and end point. and maybe have a 3-5 second fade on where i choose to set them.

Can I create a playlist, where the songs start at a defined time posistion? So start song not at 0:00 but on 0:30 in first song, in 2:23 in second song and so on...

I suggest incorporating optional icons alongside the current repeat icon. These icons would offer users the following distinct repeat modes:

1. "Repeat All": This would function as the current repeat option, playing the song continuously from the beginning.
2. "Repeat Section": This new option would empower users to define a specific segment within the song for repeated playback. This could be achieved by:
• Manual Selection: Allowing users to manually set two points within the song to define the start and end of the repeat section.
• "Repeat Chorus" or "Repeat Verse" Buttons: Providing quick-access buttons for commonly repeated sections, such as the chorus or a specific verse.

Benefits:

• Enhanced User Experience: This enhancement would provide users with greater flexibility and control over their listening experience, enabling them to seamlessly repeat their favorite musical passages.
• Improved Song Appreciation: It would allow for deeper engagement with specific musical elements, such as intricate instrumental solos, captivating vocal harmonies, or particularly impactful lyrical sections.
• Customization: This feature would cater to diverse listening preferences, empowering users to tailor their listening experience to their individual needs and musical tastes.

Cross-Platform Implementation:

I strongly recommend implementing this enhancement across all Spotify platforms and operating systems (iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, etc.) to ensure consistency and maximize user benefit.

I believe this enhancement would significantly enhance the user experience and further solidify Spotify's position as a leading music streaming platform.

The idea: Allow users to loop a specific segment of a song. Often, we want to listen repeatedly to a favorite part — be it the chorus, a solo, or a verse. With two sliding markers (e.g., "red dots" on the player’s timeline), users could define the start and end points of the segment and activate the loop

This feature would strengthen Spotify’s commitment to creativity and personalization. If you think this idea is worth rewarding with a modest sum of €10,000, I’d be grateful — after all, I’m broke, and it would help me get my life on track. 🙂

Sometimes, I get the chorus of a song stuck in my head, but don't like the rest. Or I'm working out or cooking, and can't skip songs, but don't want to listen to a full 7 minutes of longer songs. A partial songs feature for playlists, where you can add part of a song, like "the first 60 seconds" if you just want to listen to the intro, or "3 minutes" of every song, to create intervals, or even as specific as "0:53-2:43" of a certain song, would be super handy. Any other time you listen to the song it plays normally, but on that playlist with partial songs enabled, Spotify only plays the part you want, without additional button pushing and app opening.

With some songs, they have in-song transitions or annoying intros (e.g. TPNE). It would be cool if you could have a slider on each individual song where you could choose where a song stops or ends.

Hello-- is there a way to edit a track so that it starts during a different point in the song? Like, the chorus for instance?

Currently, there's no way to edit a track so that it starts during a different point in the song, but you can suggest this feature in the Ideas section:

Also, you can enable the crossfade function so the next song starts playing up to 12 seconds before the current song finishes. Just go to Settings and then Playback.
