Touch preview removal on last iOS vers. update looks like it hasn't been a great idea. You are on time to restore it, one of the best Spotify features.

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea!

 

This feature was originally removed from the app due to low engagement. There was a statement at the time which you can check out at https://community.spotify.com/t5/iOS-iPhone-iPad/Touch-Preview-on-iOS-removal/td-p/1857905.

 

We're keeping this idea as 'Not Right Now', as it's not something we have any immediate plans to add back onto the app.

 

If we do have any new info to share we'll check back in here with a new status.

I believe this was a little used feature because people weren’t aware of it. I found it by accident and used it all the time. Anyone I showed it to was blown away. Make it part of your tutorial and engagement will jump.

Tbh it was one of the best ideas you’d had with most songs having the same name and not being sure which version you’re looking for it was extemely helpful without opening up a bunch of web browsers, plus I basically relied on this nifty little feature for the pub quiz because it plays enough of the song without playing the whole thing plz bring it back. Engagement was prolly low because no one knew about it, it was just stumbled upon by accident.

Hello Spotify, I miss this feature and can’t believe that you cut it. I only just discovered it the useful feature recently, and I believe that’s probably the case with most people- they didn’t know that it’s there that’s why engagement was low. It’s not obvious and takes time to discover but it’s sooo useful to people who really use it. If people knew it was there they would probably use it. I was excited about it and I think you should bring it back.  If not I will look for a different platform that offers that feature.

Hey spotify, I'm so dissapointed youve removed this feature! I actually show this feature off to collegues and friends as it was so useful to get a quick flavor of an album. Most people dont use it because its not mentioned anywhere. Such a shame, it was the only useful deployment of force touch api. Is there a way I can rollback to a previous app version? Honestly everyone I know raves about this feature once they know its there. Or have a settings option to turn on? Thanks 🙂

 I solved this too, I just haven't updated your software since you killed this feature being it's the only feature that kept me interested in your app vs Apple

Low engagement or you couldn’t get it right for Android/had issues with artist payments for previews?! Worst decision made by spotify you once thought ahead of the competition, now you’ve taken a massive backward step as a company. It’s actually a shame I thought better of spotify, how wrong I was! Apple Music will be my new on the go music app as at least they try and get ahead like spotify use to / they are at least honest to customers about why they change features. Spotify just spin bull and expect loyal fans to eat it up. Low usage on one of your best features, I hope it returns when the low engagement customers have joined Apple Music (who still give three months free) worth a punt now.

Thank spotify for giving me 5years of greatness, apple I hope doesn’t make the same stupid mistake!

Listen Spotify your app sucks without this feature I've spent all day trying to downgrade this awful update but the old way on iTunes doesn't work so I'm just deleting the app, at least if you listen on iTunes you can sample the songs. Seriously, HOW am I supposed to find new music I like when I can't sample the songs I want to listen to??? And sure I can just, play the full song, except if I try to play from an album or song or playlist, it doesn't work !! It just plays a billion suggested songs !! this SUCKS. I want to get Spotify premium but this is my favorite feature and even on premium it's gone. THIS SUCKS 😠

I cannot believe that this awesome feature was removed. Instead of saying it was not used enough, could you not have reminded people it was there. 

 

This is is one big feature that differentiates Spotify from the others. For me, there is no special reason to stay with Spotify.  Costs the same as most others, doesn’t really have the most songs anymore. 

 

Please bring this this feature back. I loved it and it was one of the biggest reasons to have Spotify.
