[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

Its childish and there is only one loser...Spotify itself. Users eventually switch, like me after almost 10 years.

This is rediculous. Not only do they not implement native HomePod oder HomePod Mini Support, they also refuse to support AirPlay2, so that you can use your HomePod in an accaptable way. And AirPlay2 is out since 2018. Why can't the market leader do this if much smaller competitors like Pandora oder Deezer can?  My only answer would be that their doesn't want to. Maybe because of their issues with Apple in general. I think it's unaccaptable that this leads to disadvantages for the customers who pays the same money as every other user.
I think the not native HomePod support would be excusable, since the HomePod was a kinda a niche product and the Mini is kinda new. And ok, a HomePod or HomePod mini, that are just two popular, but just two very specific speakers. But AirPlay2 is a major feature for streaming of the operating system, which is the second largest one on mobile devices in the World and as I say out since iOS 11 in 2017. Their are many speakers with AirPlay2 support out there and maybe their should be a label that states "Supports AirPlay2, but not with Spotify cause they don’t care".

I think we should take no more excuses and switch to Apple Music, where not only the basic features work, but we also get extras like 3D Audio, lossless quality oder Dolby Atmos for the same price. In general I liked Spotify, but maybe it’s time to teach a lesson to a company which do not care about such a huge part of their customers.

After almost 10 years with Spotify, the end is here. I want to support alternative companies rather than having everything provided by one company (e.g. Apple and Amazon and the likes), but the reality is, the product is the same, the music that is, and the experience is the differing factor. The issue is, the UX with Apple is even better. (And of course it works with HomePod…)

It’s astonishing, I’m noticing so many people have been Spotify subscribers for 10+ years, like myself, and are abandoning the platform over this issue. I likewise switched to Apple Music a few months ago due to lack of HomePod support; I never thought that this is what would be the straw that broke the camels back but here we are…

WhyDontYouDoIt

ironically their website asked for my feedback while visiting this Thread for THE SECOND YEAR.

I wrote the text. There must be less than 500 characters. I deleted a bunch of text, removed proper words and replaced with "i go banana" type.

Spotify should be ashamed of themselves. Their contact us page does not work. Their feedback system is designed to be praised only.

It is disgusting and they don't care about it. They have money. They don't give a .

We waiting for your airplay2 or native homepod application support for years.
Nothing has moved from your side. Absolutely horrible. And us customers can**bleep** about it.Absolute shame what you're getting away with (and I don't mean you the person reading this, but the spotify itself).
We're **bleep** off.

I'm doing my part here to nudge Spotify to take on this feature. I love Spotify, but I'm bringing 4 new homepods home, which means I want to use Spotify natively in them; however, if I can't get to make this happen, I will end up moving to Apple Music since I already had thousands of my own original mp3s matched there.

Thanks for taking the time to read

Really rather not switch to Apple Music. Homepod/Air Play 2 support is a must. Putting in my 0.02$ to make sure this is implemented. Thanks.

@Crammarc6 I hear you and I just want to clarify, this thread is specifically to support Spotify natively in the homepod:

e.g. "Siri, play my favorite songs on Spotify"

I believe there's a different thread to support Airplay 2 on the homepods, which, IMO is also a highly desirable feature, but not the same as the one requested in this thread

Been using my apple music account... it's just not as good as spotify
BUT... I have multi room audio and can control the volume of each "zone"
with ease... sorry spotify you're losing customers over a pissing contest.
