[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s). 

 

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

Please upvote this idea to garner attention for it.  Thank you Spotify and the Spotify community.  Let's get this implemented so it's ready for general iOS 14 release this September!

it is time… it will be either (continue) Spotify or Apple Music in summer, your decision

If this doesn’t goes live in the coming weeks, I’ll just use apple music.

Seeing as it hasn’t gone live for the past few years, I wouldn’t hold my breath. 🙂

I’d be happy if it did though. But I’m already pretty happy with my switch to Apple Music, so…

Yeah, would be really nice to have the option to use Spotify on the Homepod..

Why the AF has this taken SO LONG to implement?  Does the CTO of Spotify not realize that a lot of premium customers are Apple customers, and they want to use the superior Spotify service with their Apple products??   I have friends that have stopped using Spotify for the inferior Apple Music for this very reason.  It's getting HARDER and HARDER to defend my beloved Spotify.  Just having an iOS app is not enough.  C'mon Spotify, FIGURE IT OUT already!  <shakes head in disbelief>

Spotify for HomePod could be implemented in 24 hours if Spotify REALLY wanted to do it.

I’m much enjoying the “inferior” Apple Music experience, with lossless audio included for free, AirPlay and HomePod support, and no annoying podcasts pushed in my face every day.

 

Just saying. 😉
