[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

This is simply ridiculous. Development is probably done for a long time. It’s Spotifys management level that is holding it back. Honestly, they should be fired. I simply don’t know how those people could make it that far.

Wouldn't get too high hopes regarding Homepod support, after reading the news that Spotify HiFi is delayed indefinitely:  https://9to5mac.com/2022/01/09/spotify-hifi-support-still-missing/

Mrricearonie

Wait, HiFi still hasn’t launched? I am honestly surprised after they made a big deal about it. Guess they felt like they had to react to Apple Music’s lossless option to get into the press cycle before they were ready

So it’s been in the works for 18 months. Just like Spotify hifi was rumored last year. (2021)

I’m so glad I canceled my subscription more than a year ago and went for Apple Music. Just because I bought some HomePod minis (in dec 2020). Also the hifi/lossless and Atmos features make it awesome.

Best thing I did in years regarding music.

Mrricearonie

I’ve also been happy with switching to Apple Music. Spotify’s algorithm never understood me (thinks I want dubstep and metal, two genres I barely listen to), and Apple Music’s algorithm gets me better. Plus their radio shows have completely changed how I find new song, and has gotten me into genres I’ve never would have heard before

Recent rumors suggest Apple are currently beta testing HomePod mini in Sweden. Sweden is undoubtedly one of Spotifys strongest markets, so maybe when the device is being sold here in Sweden it might be taken more seriously? I guess I'm probably grasping at straws here, Sweden is a tiny market compared to the US.

Guys, I have switched to Apple Music but still

using Spotify on my iphone when I’m at the gym… because

how the **bleep** u guys listening to your music on Apple Music playlists? I can not sort them for the recently added. Always starting from the first added ones.

Thats driving me crazy. Any idea on them? Or am I just doing something wrong?

Spotlighter

@markbellus

yes, unfortunately, Apple doesn’t offer any option to sort the songs which are in the playlist (I‘ve phoned their service twice about that). That’s a big disadvantage compared to Spotify/Deezer. Furthermore, there’s no automatic playlist of favorite (liked) songs - you must make one on your own and keep adding songs manually.  But on the other hand lossless music sounds really so much better. In favour of our HomePod we‘ve finally chosen Apple music. But we miss Spotify‘s algorithm as to even better recommendations.  And artists/albums as in Spotify/Deezer where I only find my liked albums/artists. In Apple Music these lists are automatic and therefore contain too much/even unknown artists/albums.

paulo_moreno

@markbellus when I was testing Apple Music I used smart playlists for that. I set it up once on my mac (the iOS client doesn't have that), and then it automatically synced.

When will this feature be available? It's been almost 2 years
