[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

I'm getting super confused...

This is my Spotify playing over 3 Airplay 2 device

This is a screen grab from my phone.IMG_1717 2.PNG

@Edwardb now go to Settings > Battery and checkout de Spotify Usage (Airplay1)

Edwardb

Not sure what you want to see there but I don’t think AirPlay 1 can have multiple speakers at the same time... so I’m still confused

Spotify on iOS is supporting AirPlay 2

https://community.spotify.com/t5/Closed-Ideas/Desktop-Airplay-2-Support-for-macOS-Spotify-applicatio...

"While Spotify on iOS supports AirPlay 2, the current macOS Spotify application (11.18.611.g9cc9bdc9) does not. The Device Menu in Spotify on macOS is missing the menu item More Devices / Airplay & Bluetooth that appears in the iOS app."

But it still doesn't mean homepod support missing is okay.

@Edwardb

The last time I accessed my Battery screen, it showed usage and in parentheses "Airplay1".

Please, tap the screen once to change the information between "use" and "activity"

Edwardb

There is nothing regarding airplay 1, are you on all latest versions of Spotify and iOS14.4?

if I had a HomePod I would be able to select it I presume...

Check my screen recording

More than six months later and +2500 votes this is still a "New Idea". Spotify really doesn't care about their users in the Apple ecosystem (or worse - they actively neglect them).

They cannot possibly be unaware, indeed they have said they are aware in
online chats and email, so they are electing to disregard most likely in
the hope of gaining some advantage for themselves. A startup would have had
this running on the very day they were given the opportunity.

Recently bought a Homepod but did not know about it missing support for spotify connect. Airplay works but connect is a must have feature imo. The lack of spotify connect is especially a problem when using automations(ios shortcuts) with homepod and other apple devices. I'm trying out apple music with a one month trial. Takes a while getting used to, especially compared to the more user friendly spotify UI. But at least my automation problem got solved. I’ll switch back to spotify if connect support ever gets added to homepod. Not holding my breath though.

Please bring Spotify to the HomePod

otherwise you will loose many users to Apple Music

can't be so difficult for you to implement it .
