My Question or Issue

I need some help at the moment, I recently downloaded my Spotify after deleting it a while back with songs downloaded and now my Spotify will no longer let me download as it says the max device limit has been reached. It says to remove all downloads from another device in order to listen on my phone. The thing is I have no other devices with music downloaded, my old iPhone 8 is no longer using my account and there’s no downloads. However my current phone says to remove all downloads but I don’t have any on the app. Is there a way to reset offline devices ? I’m getting a little bit upset with this as I have no way to save music for offline listening now . Please respond back thank you .

I have sigbed out multiple times and also did the "sign out to all" thing according to Support but I still can't download songs. The message flashed on my app says I can't download due to "reached device limit.'

Hi there,

Thank you for your post in this thread. You've done a great job with the troubleshooting so far.

Let's continue with removing any possible corrupt cache files. You can do that by following these instructions.

If that doesn't do the trick, can you let us know which device/devices this occurs on?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Have a continued great weekend 🙂

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

I contacted support, and they told me to clear cache on my device. What device? I have one phone. How is that 5 devices? Is my device count affected by the phone I lost camping a year ago? Why not 'time out' offline devices after so many days or months offline without contact to spotify servers, instead of trapping the user and requiring them to reach out to support, and for support to intervene? Seems like extra time and cost for Spotify's team, and frustrating for the end-user. It's also not obvious why the 'sign out everywhere' option does absolutely nothing for this. I can't even listen to downloaded songs if the device is offline for too many days, so why should it affect device count?

It's great that you can get help, but also kind of ridiculous that you need to set up a social media account to obtain tech support from Spotify!

I had the same problem. Finally contacted a support person here: https://support.spotify.com/us/contact-spotify-support/ and they helped fix it. It took like 15-20 mins but worked!

Hi i already do this and i still can't download the music.

Same problem, support is riddled with canned responses and so far I've been speaking to some bot or **bleep** that isn't reading the problem statement, moving to Apple Music.. Over it

Why isn't this a setting in our account menu? Thats stupid.

How I solve it? I dont have access to the devices

Hi, i also have the same issues where I can’t download music and it says “device limit reached” is there a way where we can resolve this?

Thanks,

Ethan

Hi there!

Thanks for asking on the Community.

You can download as many as 10,000 songs on each of up to 5 different devices. Usually when you have access to the devices, you can remove the downloads either from the Spotify app (Settings > Remove all downloads) or by clearing the app's cache and data.

In case you no longer have access to one of these older devices, where you had downloaded music, you can instead get in touch with the folks over at Customer Support who'll be able to remove them remotely. You can reach them here.

Hope this helps. Cheers!

The issue was quickly solved by the SpotifyCares Twitter account.

But it really should be a menu. That would be real customer service.

Go to  Support - Spotify

Solved with in 5 minutes

This limitation goes only for one Premium account regardless of the subscription type. This means that you'll be able to have content downloaded for offline listening on a maximum of 5 devices in total (5 phones/ PCs).

I would recommend you to contact with the Spotify service, they solve my similar problem ASAP.

Same problem with me in samsung galaxy A7 (2018). Spotify, please help us

try removing some of the downloads from other devices such as playlist downloads.  and remember if you are using mobile data to download , check if enable data settings in spotify has been allowed

I have the same probleme, this must be fixed

You can only have a limited number of devices that download files ie 3 mobiles and 2 PC’s. Support are the only people that can help you.

I think it's a joke that there isn't any possibility to administer your devices in settings and that you yourself can't remove devices you aren't using anymore. Apple Music has that possibility and also Kindle that you easily can choose to remove devices and then the problem is solved without having to contact support.

i am so having that problem
