My Question or Issue

I logged into my account and saw that I can't play a single song and absolutely all playlists are empty. I don't know what this could be connected with. Moreover, this problem is only in the application. There is no such problem on the website. What should I do to fix my account? I have already reinstalled the app.

This type of behavior, when the playlists are empty on the mobile device only, is commonly related to a mismatch between the country registered on your account and the one you're currently located in if you have a free account. So first, we'd recommend updating your country info by following the steps mentioned in this article

 

In case you have a Premium subscription, we'd also recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it’s more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

My Question or Issue

 

I have updated spotify to the latest version on 02/15/2025, and after that update I haven't been able to see the contents on my libraries as they all seem to be "empty" displaying the message 'lets start building your playlist'.(on my laptop everything is fine) I've already tried deleting the app updating it to an older version and clear the cache, restart the device, clear the folder on the android folder etc. If anything can be done in regard to the issue I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance to a kind individual who can respond to this have my best wishes on u<3.

Thanks for reaching out. We'll be happy to help you enjoy your music properly again.

 

If you've only done a regular reinstall, try performing a full clean reinstall instead, as this is known to resolve a lot more issues. If you're using a VPN on the affected device, disable it as that can cause all kinds of communication issues with the servers, hence why the music wouldn't play.

Ok , so when ever i try to play any song it just says younhave found a premium feature i done know why this happens i cant play any songs and my library is a mess i cant view any song or any thing even if its a random users play list i still cant access it , it just keeps saying premium feature found , I can view my profile change my password and everything but anything that has to do with songs/music just dosent work please help

If your account is not Premium, Spotify may be limiting music playback under certain conditions. On cell phones, for example, free users can only listen in random mode.

this problem is for my phone not webplayer.
when i want to play a song it wouldn't be able to play and also all of my playlists are empty what should i do?

I have the same problem. I unsubscribed the premium trial today. All my playlists are blank when I open on my phone and cant play any songs. However if i use my laptop the songs are able to play. When I try to play a song on my phone it says, "you have discovered a premium feature". All the play button for songs are gone. I dont know whats going on. I have done a clean reinstall already and clear ache and everything.

When i press the play button, it says that this function is available only for Spotify Premium. But it’s clearly NOT a premium function. Like it’s just a mixed playlist for listening for free, but it says that i need Spotify Premium for it!!! But it’s the app’s problem because i can listen the same playlist on website.

Hi, I have the exact same problem. Impossible to solve with any app reinstall, but still working properly on website. So annoying.. a couple weeks ago everything was fine.

i have the same problem too after i cancelling the subscription, I even cant play any songs (not only from library) I already reinstall and still same shi t happening

This type of issue usually happens when the app is used for more than 14 days abroad without a Premium subscription. Keep in mind that if you have a free account, you need to update the country registered on your account to the one you're currently located in for the app to work properly. So in this case, we'd recommend to you both to update the country registered on your accounts by following the steps mentioned in this article.

On my homepage, there is always this empty playlist, when I click on it it says, this playlist is empty check your homepage for customized playlists.

 

I am on the homepage, the playlist is empty -.-

Hello, I have tried both a clean reinstall and changing the region which also hasn't resolved the issue. 

 

Any other fixes? 

I've followed your instructions and the problem persists. I've done a full clean reinstall, and I am not abroad, but the playlists still appear empty and music cannot be played.

What else can I do?

Sameee , idk what's wrong , I've been only in my country , all it says is u discovered a new premium feature . They f up the whole app ... Not only u get adds all the time but now it's completely not usable . Thanks spotify : ) 

Me pasa lo mismo y no se como solucionarlo, todo aparece vacio sin embargo en el ordenador esta todo bien.

Spotify doesnt work for me too. Not abroad, no vpn, and none of your methods of reinstall etc works. I think the problem is with spotify 

My best guess is that something broke in the server on their end.

Changing region doesn't fix it, reinstall neither. Same goes for changing the accounts from the same region or relogging.

I just hope they fix it quickly without much issues. It only affects mobile users from what I've seen so far.
