Massive Battery drain when not playing music

2. stop music, or simply disconnect headphones to stop the music
3. discover that phone is turning very hot

Llama - Location profiles app has specifically addressed this issue by killing the spotify app to ensure no battery drain, caused by wakelocks (not using the app, just showing that it is a known issue) when not listening to music.
It seems to happen quite randomly, but also be related to unplugging headphones. has never happened if i remember to kill the Spotify app.. but i sometimes forget, and i really shouldnt have to.

Description
Starting any playlist will play only the first song. When the queue moves to the second track in the playlist, it appears to "play" but no audio is heard. I have to manually move forward or back a track, let it play for 1 second, then move back to the track that originally came next in the queue. This occurs for EVERY new track in the playlist.
A more detailed description, using numbered steps
Cleared data, uninstalled app, re-installed app. No change.
Did you restart your phone at step 5?
Yes.
What I expected to happen
I expected the playlist to play the next song in the queue automatically, as it has done for months prior to the latest update.
What actually happened
The next track in the playlist does not play properly unless I manually switch tracks and then go back to that track.

I'll try posting here as I don't seem to be getting a response elsewhere.
Since last week, any new playlists I have added to my Android have dissapeared. If my spotify app is activated where I don't have a wireless conenction, then the new playlists will disappear from my Android.
Is anyone looking into these problems at all? I am paying for this service, it would be nice to get some response.
Description
App occasionally slips into a minimally responsive state. Can't confirm a pattern, but appears to be either when an internet connection is lost (even for downloaded playlists) or when the screen is automatically turned off.
A more detailed description, using numbered steps
1. Listening to a song
2. Song suddenly stops
3. Pressing pause / play does nothing (even after reconnecting to the net)
4. Playlists / What's New etc all fail to render - just big blank white screens
5. To restore any functionality a forced stop is required.
Did you restart your phone at step 5?
Y
What I expected to happen
App should not cut out at all for DLed playlists. Should start playing again after connection is restored. Should never (under any circumstances) require a forced stop.
What actually happened
Music stops and won't start again without a forced stop.

Please let me know how to fix this. I feel like a right mug paying and extra £5/mo for an app as buggy as this.
No reply from Spotify Tech Support or Development yet on this topic? Wow!! This is the first issue I've had with Spotify since using their Premium service on and off for a year. Do they care about their Premium subscribers?

The app seems to go onlineand offline at will and songs stop playing at random. Even the downloaded songs and even if the app is set to offline mode.
A more detailed description, using numbered steps
1. I used the preview version, everything worked fine.
2. I uninstalled the preview version, cleaned data and even emptied my phones cache.
3. I installed the version from the play store.
AND
1. I bought a new phone
2. I installed the version from the play store
What I expected to happen
The songs should play continously, especially the downloaded playlists in offline mode.
What actually happened
The app goes online and offline at will and the songs stop playing. Even the downloaded playlists and no matter if I'm in offline mode or not. When it stops playing, my playlists dissapear from the list and reapperas after going back and forth.

PS. More info and confirmations from other people in this thread.
I'm having the same issue.
I thought it might be due to keeping the downloaded songs on external sd (not wiping the old install, keeping the setting - not possible to change with the new version).
-Wiped all, did a clean install.
-The only setting I changed was play with extreme quality.
-So far, all well. Played a couple of songs flawlessly.
-Then chose to download the playlist. After one song was downloaded I played that one, and after a couple of minutes of playing, Spotify went "offline" and stopped playing. Tapping another song started playback right away. Chose to un-download the playlist, and is now currently playing just fine.
Conclusion: It may seem that the issue with Spotify stopping playback/going "offline" is something related how this version handles the downloaded playlists. I didn't have this issue with the preview version (been using that up til now, but figured I had to find the reason for this bug).
PS! This is another bug then the one mention by other here where the sound disappears. Still experiences that one.
