[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

This finally got to me, and yesterday I cancelled my Spotify Premium Family plan, and switched to Apple Music. Over and out.

TIDAL is another good option that doesn't force podcasts down your throat.

I found this clever person to show me how to fix it myself. (This also implies how easy it would be for Spotify to switch this feature on. It's just of a list of what the interface should display.) The first link below is for IOS and Android. If the link does not work, google it.  Hope this is helpful for people who like tinkering. If it all goes wrong you could always just uninstall and reinstall Spotify.

Removing "shows" from Spotify

And someone made a Powershell script to do this on windows.  Find his link in the comments on the page.

@EdsListeningPost thank you 🙂 x100

Seeing as the Spotify ❤️Joe Rogan debacle is in the news, I'm going to start sending a link to this issue (and the other ones about removing podcasts from the homepage), especially regarding rogan, to the news outlets.  Could others do the same?

They'll love knowing that Spotify users have been asking for this for years, and given the fact that other podcasts like C U M Town, weird erotica podcast covers, and other triggering subjects for some, such as pregnancy tips for people who have had a miscarriage, opening the app in front of kids, or friends and getting weird recommendations etc. etc.  There's loads of stories in these comments for them.

The time to get it in the news is now, it's the only way Spotify will listen, unfortunately.

I've backed up my playlists in case spotify disable my account for saying this, I'm in the process of transferring it all anyway, had enough of their BS.

@EdsListeningPost worked perfectly on macos, thank you very much (note: I also had to do the 2021 update they have in there, and then run the last zip command again, to get the Episodes removed from the home screen).

**bleep**, it's like a whole new app, the music-only app is back, thank you

I use the mobile app every day, and when you open it, it gives you 6 suggested playlists/albums to click on . I think it would be cool if we could pin certain playlists or albums to that page to click on every time we open the app.

If you're into modding, you can try to install Spicetify.  It takes a while for non IT fans, but it's not rocket science, and it opens a small world of opportunities.  Just google the term, their site is the app name, and it ends in .app

Yeah you guys need to get some immediate plans to implement this.  I just picked up my Tesla from service to find that there was a podcast suggestion titled Gay Erotica on my landing/start screen.  Top row, unmissable.  I don't listen to podcasts ever so I can't imagine the logic that went into the algorithm's decision to put that one up there.  **bleep** Spotify, seriously?  Now every mechanic at the Tesla shop probably thinks I listen to gay **bleep** and play with myself while driving to work.  Can you, I don't know, find a way to at least let me REMOVE the awful suggestions that your algorithm decides to plaster on my home page?
