[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

Sometimes I listen to podcasts recommended by friends and then the Show will appear in the "My Shows" section of my Home page. Even though I don't "Follow" the show (maybe I've downloaded episodes from that show to listen to at a time when I don't have service) it still appears and I can't get it to go away. I should be able to hide that show from my view. Please add a function for podcast shows to "Hide from Home (aka Your Shows section)"

I borrowed my friend my phone to listen music and she went on a explicit podcast and I can't remove it

I am so incredibly tired of Spotify at this point. I have used Spotify for over 10 years at this point across 3 accounts and it used to be the gold standard. Now if I listen to just a single snippet of a podcast or web show or something even by accident, IT STAYS ON MY HOME SCREEN AND DOES NOT GO AWAY FOR MONTHS. No "not interested" or hide option, no ability to move it off of my home screen. Do not get me wrong, I think giving creators a platform for podcasts is a good thing and having access to all of the audio books has been great, but when it infests my whole experience and makes it harder to actually get to music it just ruins the whole process of music discovery. To add to that, I now literally get ONE SIGULAR ROW of music on my home screen, the rest is just podcasts, videos and audio books. Even if you choose the "music" filter option, you still only end up with 2 rows of your same 10 playlists and mixes with the same 30 songs, then if you scroll down its just those stupid Snapchat/Instagram style story blocks that only serve to clutter the UI. And not to beat a dead horse but now finding new music is almost a job now? I feel like it used to be so easy to find similar music to that which you enjoyed, that was why you paid for Spotify. Now, you have to refer to third parties to find similar music. The Spotify curational team has either been completely dropped or the algorithm they are using is completely broken (yes, I know it is profit driven more so than ever now).

Totally agree! 🎯 Being able to customize the home screen to prioritize what we actually use (playlists, artists, recently played) would significantly improve the experience. Irrelevant suggestions can definitely be distracting, and having more control over what appears first would make Spotify more tailored to our preferences. Fingers crossed Spotify listens to this! 🙌

There is a podcast that keeps showing up on my homepage. I have repeatedly clicked the ‘not interested’ button, but it still appears as something that Spotify thinks I will like. I have watched one or two episodes in the past and did not like them. The podcast has some really hateful messages (racist, homophobic, etc.) and I find it extremely frustrating that it keeps appearing. Is there any way to block or report this podcast?

My Question or Issue

The problem I am having is a like to use Spotify while I am at work and I have no way to download the App due to restrictions on the device and so I use the Web App while working.

When at work I listen to quite a few more podcasts and non-music content in the background but the problem I am having is that this all shows up on my Home Screen (see Screenshot) and I have no way to remove it.

Basically I cannot use a Private Session because I am Web App (even though I am premium which is insane). After work I only want my music content showing on my home page but any topics/playlists I've checked out will automatically show up. There is no removal feature and apparently if I use my phone to start a Private Session it still wouldn't work because I am listening on Web App at work.

As an example: I got inspired to listen to sections of the Bible on Audio while I work. I tried out several different audio versions to find a speaker whose voice worked for the content and now I have 2-3 Bible playlists showing on my home screen, even if I click the Music portion because it isn't considered a Podcast so it even shows up under music.

What options are there to customize and avoid this so that MY homepage looks how I would like it to look?

Myspace had better customization than you guys by far and that was 25+ years ago.

As a gentle reminder you clearly want people to stay by making it impossible within your own software to download and use playlists elsewhere. I have rebuilt my music playlists several times over several platforms and non-platforms (CDs, MP3 players, etc).

I am finding your service poor (reviewing on here any of the topics Users want and your team's responses) and you are wearing out your welcome in my life. Hoping there is a chance for improvement.

I’m so sick of these sponsored artists being pushed on me, artists whom I never listen to, and have even blocked. Spotify, I know these labels are paying you for their artists to appear in such prominent spots in the app, but I am a paying customer, and I don’t want none of this! Don’t turn the app into your ads billboard, and quit shoving random artists down my throat!

I don’t ever want to see your „Suggested albums for you“ or any other such type of advertisements!!!!

The home page is basically just “here are albums,  playlists, artists we want you to listen to”

I don’t care what you want me to listen to Spotify! Stop controlling and manipulating MY music listening experience!!!!

This is terrible just like the incredibly annoying „Smart Shuffle“ where Spotify is pushing artists onto the user!
