[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

8 year old feature requests and this worthless company is doing nothing to address the wants or needs of its PAYING CUSTOMERS.

Absolute horrible service. Canceling my TEN YEAR OLD family account and moving over to youtube music.

I notice that the homepage displays the recently 9-10 played playlist in real time. The issue is, there is no way to customize or choose if you want your homepage to display what you just played, or if you want your homepage to display whatever playlists or content of your choice.

I would like to have the option to choose what my homepage displays. I say this because I listened to an audiobook but now the cover art of the audiobook shows up on my homepage and I no longer wish to see it there. Especially because I have not listened to the audio book in several days.  I also hate the cover art of the audiobook as it clashes with the playlist covers of my other playlists.  Im also noticing in Android Auto, it only displays the top row (top 3 playlist) of my 9 playlist on the homepage. If I scroll down to display the 2nd or 3rd row (which I used to be able to do) it will just revert back to the top row of the homepage. Again, this is an issue because the audiobook I no longer play is in the top row. I used to be able to scroll to any part of my homepage and the screen would stay on the row I scrolled to. Now it just scrolls back to the top row after each song ends. I want my spotify homescreen to stay on my row of choice unless I touch it. Again, it used to do this until the last update.

Or you should allow us to mark the kind of new music we want to be notified about. I'm mexican but most of the music I like is not mexican or even in spanish language. And also would be nice to be able to eliminate the things we are not interested in from the Home section

Best regards.

Years of lies. Ok. Moving to Pandora and Apple Music. I think lawsuits about indecent exposure to minors and privacy invasion is in line with this exploitative subscriber’s rights.

Specific to recommended content on the Home feed:

Include 3 dots or other button to toggle on and off a recommended section.

Example:

Recommended Audiobooks (-)

(-) clicked would allow for the recommended section to be removed.

Alternatively, user could tap (+/-) to add or remove sections based on their preferences.

Ideally this would allow for a bit more control over the preferences of content of the user.

I really want the ability to do this, although I'm not fussed on the specific UI to do it.
Thankfully I now have an app version that stops pushing Joe Rogan at me. I didn't want to see his face every time I opened spotify. Would like to be able to control these kinds of homepage elements in the future.

Agreed.

Not being able to clear away unwanted and unsolicited items from the Home Screen is very, very annoying.

Sort it out Spotify.

I propose an option for users to choose how they experience the Spotify app by introducing two interface modes: Full Mode and Compact/Minimalistic Mode. This setting could be available under profile preferences, allowing users to set it permanently based on their needs.

Full Mode (Default)

  • The app remains as is, with all sections visible: Library, Home, and Now Playing.
  • Designed for users who enjoy the full range of features and visual elements.

Compact/Minimalistic Mode

For users who prefer a cleaner, more focused experience:

  • Now Playing View: Optional or minimized by default (removing an unnecessary 1/3 of the screen for those who don’t use it).
  • Library & Home Redundancy: Reduce duplicate access points—Library is accessible from the sidebar when needed, and Home focuses on discovery rather than showing library shortcuts again.
  • Browse Section: Make it more prominent and easier to access (not hidden within the Search bar).

Why This Matters

Spotify’s current Home page feels cluttered, overwhelming, and unintuitive. Features like the Browse section are not easy to find, and the interface prioritizes excessive options instead of a streamlined, user-friendly experience. Many users (especially long-time ones) would appreciate a cleaner, distraction-free layout that makes navigation more intuitive.

This proposal doesn’t take anything away—it simply gives users more control over how they interact with Spotify, ensuring a better experience for different preferences.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this!

Somehow, I end up with things on my homepage and I have no idea how they got there and I have no interest in and I would like to be able to remove them. Also, sometimes I might search up something that I decide I do not like and I want to be able to remove it as well. Please allow users the ability to edit their own homepage!
