[Music] Custom Start & Ending Times for a Track

Hi.

I'm a big electronic music lover and there is only one feature i would like added to spotify. The option to choose a part of the track i would like to play and have the settings saved.

In the world of electronic music there is almost allways 2-3 minute build ups, and not many radio mixes of each track.

This can be a problem when having a party and a track lasts for 7 minutes with 3 of them is a buildup that not everyone would like to listen to.

It would be nice to have a feature like this that i can change on each track, just drag 2 buttons to a start and end point. and maybe have a 3-5 second fade on where i choose to set them.

Made a quick illustration on what i mean. Spotify proposition.jpg

No communication or feedback from Spotify on this Custom Intro and Outro times for songs! Just rules about "repeat idea". Over 12 years old on this request, time to implement and stop wasting time on enforcing "posting rules". Obviously, the community is trying to tell you something. So instead of telling us our idea is closed due to rules, give us a real update of this feature request. Tell us what's really holding this idea up, Please Spotify!

Hiya this is a really random one but thought I'd put forward my idea. Probably will go nowhere but worth letting at least one person at the Spotify Facebook team know! The idea is creating a Spotify snippet playlist. Snips list/ snip list the name I'm sure can be worked out at a later date but users can create a playlist using just parts of the song. Initial uses be could create like an ultimate guitar solos and having just the solo parts of different songs which would play one after another rather than having to find it in each song individually. You can have users compete with who chose the best solos. Or to show the best parts of people's bands. Give a little taste of a new album that came out with 20/30 seconds of each song in one playlist. So a 5 minute playlist created by a user -so Spotify has to do very little work you know the public will use any tool provided to them much better than anyone paid to actually do it! See for example little big planet, super Mario maker ect-- can showcase a bands discography. People can also use it to create their own music quizes ,intros, outros, chorus only picking each part individually. And with the snippest being shorter means more song getting through which means more ads can be played by you guys or people will be more inclined to buy premium as they get sick of ads after 5 snippets which could take less than a minute in total - cha ching!!! £$€!! And all you would need to do is create some very basic seeking tools. Obviously this is the Internet age and people already create "funny named" playlist about just about anything. They could do with songs parts like particular words from different songs. I mean I would love someone to do the full tragedy of darts plagueis the wise using different songs but getting the word "plagueis" might be difficult!! Just a random thought. I'm legitimately happy for this idea to be used and if it gets any traction further up the chain confirm I give up any rights to the intellectual property to lay any claim to this idea for any monetary renumeration or any other credit to this idea- I'm sure your legal team would come up with something better. I mean free Spotify premium for life would be a nice gesture hint hint! Let me know your thoughts, thanks for reading, Ryan

This feature would allow the listener to hear their favorite part of the song, on repeat. Simply set point "A" (i.e :30 seconds into the song) and point "B" (i.e. 1:00 minute in the song), and this part will repeat, until you decided to disable the A-B feature.

There would be no limit to how long or short in between point A and B; you could listen to the last 5 seconds or 45 seconds of a song. Want to hear from the 2:37 mark to the 3:32 mark of any song? Choose the A-B feature!

Such a feature would not be a day too late..

Introducing the "Loop Points" feature on Spotify, a revolutionary way to customize your listening experience. With Loop Points, users can define two specific points within a song that they want to loop, allowing them to focus on and enjoy their favorite parts repeatedly.

How it works:

  1. Set Loop Points:

    • While listening to a song, users can set two loop points by tapping a dedicated button during playback.
    • A visual interface will appear, allowing users to drag sliders to precisely select the start and end points of the loop.

  2. Visual Representation:

    • The selected loop points will be visually represented on the song progress bar, giving users a clear indication of the looped section.

  3. Seamless Transition:

    • As the song progresses, the looped section will seamlessly repeat without interruption, creating a continuous and immersive listening experience.

  4. Save and Share:

    • Users can save their customized loop points for a specific song, allowing them to easily access their preferred sections in future listens.
• Sharing options will enable users to share their custom loop points with friends, enhancing the social aspect of music discovery.

  5. Loop Playlists:

    • Users can create playlists with multiple songs, each having its own set of loop points.
    • This feature encourages users to curate personalized playlists with their favorite sections of different songs.

  6. Smart Suggestions:

    • Spotify can use machine learning algorithms to suggest potential loop points based on a user's listening habits, helping users discover hidden gems within their favorite songs.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced Enjoyment:

    • Users can focus on and appreciate their favorite parts of a song without manually rewinding or repeating.

  • Creativity and Personalization:

    • The feature empowers users to express their musical preferences by customizing their listening experience.

  • Collaborative Listening:

    • Sharing loop points adds a social element to music discovery, as users can exchange their favorite parts of songs with friends.

  • Improved Engagement:

    • Loop Points encourage users to engage more deeply with their music library, discovering nuances in songs they might have overlooked.

By introducing the "Loop Points" feature, Spotify aims to provide a more immersive and customizable music experience, catering to the diverse preferences of its users.

@SkyHiii, if you're into DJing, which probably you are not based on your TikTok comment which is not connected to this topic at all - you would know that loops exist for a long time and are valuable assets to audiophiles. Moreover, there are others threads that talk about "Hearts" and "create similar playlist" and this is not the one so I believe that that comment would be more beneficial there as it would help get thread on the FP.

Edited this comment - didn't realize you were pitching this idea. My bad - it's a fine idea and I hope they implement it.

Can we build on that? Can spotify make a feature called "Never End" instead?!

Has anyone heard of the Eternal Jukebox? https://www.eternalboxmirror.xyz/
Something like this, but just another option under the loop button, Like how shuffle has Smart shuffle as another option under the shuffle button.
"Smart Loop" or "Never End"

This would be so so so so so good!
