[iOS][Discover] Restore Touch Preview on iOS App

Touch preview removal on last iOS vers. update looks like it hasn't been a great idea. You are on time to restore it, one of the best Spotify features.

Updated on 2019-03-19

Hey!

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea!

This feature was originally removed from the app due to low engagement. There was a statement at the time which you can check out at https://community.spotify.com/t5/iOS-iPhone-iPad/Touch-Preview-on-iOS-removal/td-p/1857905.

We're keeping this idea as 'Not Right Now', as it's not something we have any immediate plans to add back onto the app.

If we do have any new info to share we'll check back in here with a new status.

Cheers!

Seriously!?

You guys still haven’t brought it back!?

There are literally thousands and thousands of users asking for it back! This is what separated you from Apple Music.

Please bring it back!!! It makes navigating and discovering new music and artists so simple! And isn’t that what it’s all about!?!

Kjhart

Bring it back your sources were wrong everyone used that feature. Maybe people didn’t know you could do it before. It was a very useful feature. Also what was the reason for getting rid of it? Did it negatively affect others while using the app?

Spotify is never bringing it back. I don’t think they are being honest about why they took touch away. And they just ignore all their users complaints. They don’t care

Just because people are not using it 1000 times a day does not mean it was a bad feature. Next time, maybe try to understand (with quantitative studies) why a feature has a low engagement.

Quick reminder:

  • Qualitative studies are well suited for identifying the main problems in a design
  • [...] quantitative studies are done [...], with the purpose of evaluating the usability

I would really like for this feature to come back

I would appreciate it so much if this feature came back. I stopped using the app as much as I used to because this feature made it so much easier to discover new music. I would zone out for HOURS just previewing and listening to music from not very well known artists. The feature was so simple and I loved how it would atuomaticlaly keep playing your music right after the preview was over. It was an amazing feature for us lazy people or those who simply did not have the time to go through every song to determine if we liked it or not. This was such a great feature that no other music app had. I feel like it had a low engagement rate due to the fact that no one really knew about it. When I found out about it it was completely by accident when I was editing one of my playlists with the drag and drop feature. I told a few of my friends about it and they had no idea it existed so I definetly think it could be advertized better in the same way the new "speak to search" feature was. If the reason this feature was removed was because you wanted to use the press and hold feature for something else I feel like you could still work around it. You could maybe implement as option in the settings that could allow you to customize what you want the press and hold feature to do for you specifically, that way everyone is happy!

All the votes and it's a shame Spotify won't even consider bringing this back

The preview was the best thing about the app, dissapointsd it’s not been brought back yet, if it is from a user engagement reason like mentioned you could always have it as a setting and then it’s the best of both worlds.

Touchtopreview2

The reason why it had a low engagement rate was because NO ONE really knew about it!

It’s what makes you different from other playforms. Please bring it back.

Although you say it had a low engagement rate, you’re pretty much saying you weren’t interested in keeping it for those that do enjoy it & those that do engage.

Keep it alive for us!

How about you stop removing features? You downgrade the iPad app to stretched out android bull **bleep** and now this. You guys suck.
