[iOS][Discover] Restore Touch Preview on iOS App

Touch preview removal on last iOS vers. update looks like it hasn't been a great idea. You are on time to restore it, one of the best Spotify features.

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea!

 

This feature was originally removed from the app due to low engagement. There was a statement at the time which you can check out at https://community.spotify.com/t5/iOS-iPhone-iPad/Touch-Preview-on-iOS-removal/td-p/1857905.

 

We're keeping this idea as 'Not Right Now', as it's not something we have any immediate plans to add back onto the app.

 

If we do have any new info to share we'll check back in here with a new status.

Spotify, when are you going to comment on this idea? It has over 3,000 upvotes and clearly is a feature that many users in the community want to see restored. This feature made discover new music enjoyable and easy. I don't understand what the point of getting rid of it was. If anything, I would think your most loyal users were the ones using this feature, so why punish them? Since you removed this, my Spotify experience has definitely been diminished when finding new music.

 I run Spotify via my hifi on an old Android smartphone. Works quite well (the app remains clunky and not well-thought-out but usable).

 

So I flip open my laptop to deal with some early evening emails and want to take control of the music thru my smartphone/hifi. This should be simple but the music starts playing through my laptop with no obvous simple way of stopping it. This has been going on for years. Ditto using another android phone to take control. Utter shite. Sort ot out Spotify or your IPO will be wasted.

 

Great **bleep** software. Sort it out Spotify or someone will eat you for lunch

How many votes do you need to enable this feature?

The missing touch preview has bring me here to the forum. It's clearly an important thing, not only for me but to others too.

Spotify needs to bring more awareness of this feature, instead of removing it as this is their differentiate from other services.

I found out this feature by accident long time ago, imagine those people who didn't know at all!

Maybe you could remake the preview feature. Previously it was just touch and holding a song but maybe you could make it different this time. I suggest that preview works with a 3D-touch press or 3D-touch press left and slide to the right of the song. The further you slide the louder the preview. And when you slide up or down to another song it changes to the preview of that song just like before.

Can’t believe this was removed... Was one of the best parts about Spotify app on iOS. Bring it back!

I think the engagement rate was low because most people weren’t aware of this feature. I discovered it by chance, and it was THE thing that made me use Spotify so much - in combination with Discover Weekly it was so good. Now I’m finding it annoyingly time-consuming to put together playlists and find new music 😞
