Playback issues on multiple devices

We're seeing reports in multiple Community threads from users experiencing playback issues.

This seems to happen on a variety of devices, both on mobile and desktop.

Hey everyone,

We have good news - this is now fixed! Just make sure to restart the app before giving it another try 🙂

Cheers!

My Question or Issue

As of this morning, Spotify stops playing songs after 8 seconds. The song will start normally, but after 8 seconds, only silence. Happens on both my iPhone and on the Desktop version. I've shut down wifi (which was functioning fine) and bluetooth, restarted the app, cleared the cache, removed downloads, uninstalled the app, restarted the iPhone and re-installed the app, but the problem persists.

Seems to work now 👍🏼

I can't press the thumbs up though, dunno why (email is verified).

Uh, no, not fixed at all.  I'm still having all of these issues, even after a reboot.

I am having this issue as well, but playback lasts for 30 seconds instead of 9. Reproducible on Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
1.2.89.539.gfb3c63a3 and 9.1.44.2119 on iPhone. My troubleshooting steps so far:
-log out of all accounts, wait one hour hoping the token(s) expire completely, then login
-log out of my phone and try to use the windows app
-log out of my windows app and try to use mobile only
-restarted both devices
-cleared spotify's cache on both devices
-uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify on both devices
-connected to CarPlay with bluetooth and cable, no change
-logged into my spotify on another iPhone that was previously using spotify without issues, issue appears to follow my account.

App stopped working a few days ago on my Android phone but does work on my iPad?

Like list vanished

The everything else stopped working it keeps telling me "something when wrong try again" it doesn't help.

Reinstalled over and over again, no help

Cleared cache,  no help

Don't know what to try now.

@Maria It's not fixed yet. I have the same problem as @Ze12. It works on my laptop, but not on my phone or when I try to use it through the webpage. Have cleared cache, uninstalled and reinstalled twice, rebooted my phone, and I even changed my email and password on spotify in case that would help anything. Nothing. Mind you as well, it only started working on my laptop after I changed the email and password, but still no change on my phone.

Mobile worked today as usual, but in the evening, while listening to a couple of albums on my Windows 11 desktop, Spotify suddenly stopped working several times. Sometimes the song would briefly stutter or slow down before stopping completely.

I restarted the app and resumed listening, but this happened again in subsequent songs — around 5 or 6 times in total.

My internet connection is optical fiber, so the issue is not related to the connection.

App version:
Spotify – Windows (64-bit)
1.2.89.539.gfb3c63a3

I've encountered the same issue here as of yesterday on both my phone and computer (music sometimes will play for a few seconds then stop, or not play at all from the start). So far, my troubleshooting has been:

- Clearing cache on both devices

- Reinstalling the app

- Re-starting devices

- Logged out of all devices and logged back in

- Attempted a different internet connection (phone data vs Wifi)

- Playing music via the web-browser

The only work-around I have found so far is to download the music to my device. I have created a playlist of the songs this issue seems to occur on to try follow this work-around (as if this method fails I will offer an update).

Let me know if I've missed anything, happy to troubleshoot a little further!
