Playback stops after playing few songs on Echo devices

We've received multiple reports where repeat stops working & playback pauses after a few songs on Amazon Echo devices.

Hey there folks,

We've checked with our teams and this should now be fixed for everyone 🙂

Make sure that your Echo device is up-to-update, should you still experience issues. You can do this by asking Alexa for an update with the voice command - "Alexa, check for updates".

If the above doesn't do the trick, and the issue persists, we recommend that you create a new thread on our Help Board, so we can look into it further.

Cheers!

exact same issue as above!!!

It seems there's a glitch in Amazon's Alexa connection to Spotify.  The sort of signal it's sending, specifically when connected to an Echo device, is causing playback errors.  Could be that Spotify thinks there are multiple devices sending separate play signals to a single account.  That would result in Spotify playing on a "ghost" device and pausing the one we're actively trying to listen to.

Ditto to every post on this thread. I have done all suggestions but the problem persists. A previous poster implied in the last couple of hours that a fix has been made…..but not for me. Spotify stops playing on my echo device after a few songs. Spotify works fine with my Roku streaming stick and LG soundbar.

Yep, sadly I just signed up for the 3 months of free Amazon music and will drop Spotify by my renewal date if they don't sort this mess out by then.  Can't believe this isn't receiving more acknowledgement from Spotify management than it is - this has to be a major use case that is essentially hard down.

seems to be better for me today played about 6 songs in a row on my echo with no issue.

edit - still an issue after a few more songs it started again, damnit.

This issue has been a problem for us in New Zealand as well.  Interestingly, it does appear to have come right yesterday, although I am still pretty sceptical when I read all the ongoing issues the rest of you are still having.  Only time will tell if they are indeed rolling out a fix for this.  At this stage I can once again request Alexa to play a playlist from Spotify and it doesnt stop 😄

I wonder how many of the followers here have also approached Amazon about this issue as they seem to be less targeted by comments on this fault?

I trust that Spotify tech support will continue to address the issue for us all.

So I signed up to amazons 3 month free trial - to find that you can’t listen to a track on repeat on your echo!! Talk about shoot yourself in the foot Amazon….

I bought an Alexa two days before this happened to play music for my kid and now I’m back to using a Bluetooth speaker and not able to use my phone at night lol. Cmon Spotify, take a look at how many people pay for your services and have them connected to their Alexa’s. Us on here are a very small blip on a massive radar of people having issues. Get it together or your stocks are probably going to tank soon.

I’ve also tried all the things and nothing works. It plays a few songs and just stops. This is ridiculous.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem. Tried all of the possible troubleshooting without any success. I am pretty sure it's a problem between Alexa and Spotify. It could be Amazon trying to have us subscribe to it's music service... Who knows, but it gets annoying especially when trying to put the toddler to bed.

I've been having this issue, I also wrote here a few pages back about it. I usually try to use it with my echo 4th generation quite often each day. Around an hour or two ago I tried it once again, and it's working without problems as of now. Either it's luck, or it's fixed now. Try to see if it works for you too. I hope it works for everyone now fluently without issues. Happy listening if it works ❤️
