Block Joe Rogan Podcast

Block Joe Rogan Podcast

I've already voted for the idea to allow a disable toggle for podcasts so I stop getting them inserted into recommended playlists, but how do I block a specific podcast?

The home screen of the Mac Desktop app has become a continuous advertisement for the Joe Rogan podcast, which I do not want to see nor want any chance to accidentally click on. How do I get this trash off of my home page? I'm already not thrilled with some of the podcast hosts Spotify advertises and seriously considering cancelling my subscription entirely, and forcing me to look at this stuff every time I open the app is just abother reason to get away from the whole platform.

You don't shove a whole row of music I don't like at the top of my home screen, why am I seeing a whole row dedicated to Rogan before any of my own actual preferred content?

Hey folks,

Thanks for posting on the Community about this.

For now it's not possible to block certain podcast shows, however, we recommend having a look at this Live Idea suggesting the implementation of an option allowing users to perform this action within the Spotify app.

You can support the idea by adding your +VOTE and clicking on Subscribe in the three-dots menu at the top right corner next to the title. That'll make sure you stay up-to-date with any relevant updates about this. It’s also worth knowing that the higher the number of votes an idea gets, the more likely it is for the idea to be implemented.

We always take new ideas and feedback into consideration to improve the app. Here you can read more on how ideas work.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for sharing your feedback with the Community.

We value your feedback and will take it into consideration when moving forward. In the meantime, there are a couple more ideas besides the one @Ivan posted above, that you can add your support to:

If this is also something you'd like to see, make sure to +VOTE and subscribe to the ideas. The Idea Exchange is a great way for us to see what our users are interested in and how many people like a certain idea. You can read more about it here.

Hope this info is useful. We'll be here if you have any other questions.

That’s just it. I don’t want to see his face and name while I’m trying to enjoy my life. SMH

I need the ability to block podcasts.

you are wrong

im paying for premium

I still see this piece **bleep** every time I open Spotify. Spotify said there is not way to turn this off. I’ve contacted support directly.

maybe know what you are talking about before you talk.

It's September 2nd, 2021.

This fool is using Spotify's cash to push vaccine skepticism. His announcement of his COVID-19 diagnosis was twinned with an endorsement of an ineffective and dangerous sheep and horse dewormer medicine. This is what I think of when I think of Spotify. I cannot go on much longer with a premium subscription to this service at this point. It's unethical and destructive.

I'm about to cancel my Spotify Premium account due to the fact that I don't want my money to go to a person distributing falsehoods on the Spotify platform. Been a subscriber for over 10 years so I'm sorry to go, but the limit has been reached.

I will also be cancelling my subscription as I don't listen to podcasts and even if I did, Joe Rogan would be the last one I would ever want to listen to. Can't believe Spotify is shoving this hateful fool down our throats

I have never seen a whinier bunch of crybabies.  Who said you had to listen?

The point is that we can block Chris Brown but not Joe Rogan because... the former is a musician and the latter is a podcaster? No one claims to have been forced to listen. You're missing the point, probably on purpose. Since you're a Rogan fan this would probably bother you: how would you like a non-dismissable ad showcasing the last five episodes of The Kamala Harris Experience? That's totally cool, right, because no one said you had to listen.

See, Spotify? You've put yourself right in the middle of stupid political arguments. The next time I see a non-dismissable ad for Rogan's disinformation podcast I'm signing up for an Apple Music free trial to see if I can make that work as an alternative to Spotify Premium.

This is idiotic. If I can't block Joe Rogan by the end of 2021, I'm finding another music streaming service.

Yeah I would really like to block this racist, homophobic, misinformation person. I really wish that he was not on Spotify

I love Spotify and have now cancelled Premium over this. I hope those of you who stay get the ability to block the disinformation soon.

I am also very close to unsubscribing because of Joe rogan. There's no way for me to stop getting notifications from it, and I disabled notifications from within spotify app settings long ago. I thought maybe there's a way to do that on the website but there isn't.

Starting January 2, my membership will stop renewing. I've subscribed to spotify for over 12 months and I've just about had enough of Joe rogan hitting my notifications and being in my home screen. The only time I ever looked up Joe rogan was out of curiosity and then because of Neil Tyson. Truckers podcast I don't mind hitting my notifications, even tho they're disabled, because at least they have something interesting and relatable to me. However, I am not following Joe rogan and don't see how he should be forced in my notifications.  That is wrong and makes me want to find another streaming app, which at this point I think is necessary.

I'm seriously considering cancelling two family accounts over this nonsense. I own a million mp3s and will be just fine. Why are you so willing to continue to endorse and advertise a known, problematic, anti-science and anti-vaccine talk show host? Is it really worth waiting for a negligent infliction of emotional distress lawsuit(or similar) before you do something? This man spreads harmful misinformation to many millions of listeners weekly, and it is about time you take action. Letting users block his or any offensive content is literally the least you could do, aside from doing nothing at all as you currently are.

We won't be going back to Spotify. They've had their chance to get rid of Rogan and his disinfo that's killing people, and it's only getting worse.

We cancelled our family account a few months ago over this garbage and don't miss it a bit!

So everyone that's on the fence, go ahead and cancel, you won't regret it.

Joe Rogan is spreading deadly anti-vax disinformation –- Spotify: do you 1) want the pandemic to go on forever? 2) want your subscribers to die of covid? If you answer yes to those questions, you're doing a great job with Joe Rogan

canceling family subscription

Rogan all over my front page again. Can someone develop a platform for music lovers?

This is going to be my first and last post in the Spotify Community.

Joe Rogan's show has repeatedly welcomed and provided a platform, completely unchallenged, to peddlers of misinformation who have been completely discredited and disowned by the scientific community. Their arguments, Robert Malone's to offer one example, stand against a scientific consensus and have been thoroughly debunked repeatedly by the world's leading virologists, epidemiologists and public health specialists.

These people have cost lives through the pandemic. Period. So has Rogan, and so has Spotify, by extension. Whilst Spotify continues to offer Rogan a platform, I won't be subscribing and will be asking for my account to be disabled today.

Why do I have to see the face of this scum on the app I pay for every time I open it up? You made a terrible mistake with Joe Rogan and this was a turning point in how I feel about the Spotify service.

Eagerly searching and awaiting an alternative that pays *musicians* what they're due for their creativity instead of giving their money to some drug-fueled, anti-vax, scum.

I'm a brand new paid spotify user.  I was really excited to get into the program and start training it on what music I like.  Instead I'm spending my first hour trying to see if I can mute/block Joe Rogan, Ben Shapiro, and Jordan Peterson from being shoved in my face every time I open spotify up.  It's absolutely insane for a program like this to not have such a basic ability to block/hide content, that's like the absolute most base level of user functionality.

I don't even want to use spotify anymore since I see those horrible people every time I open it up.  It really shows how much they care about the users.
