I've already voted for the idea to allow a disable toggle for podcasts so I stop getting them inserted into recommended playlists, but how do I block a specific podcast?
The home screen of the Mac Desktop app has become a continuous advertisement for the Joe Rogan podcast, which I do not want to see nor want any chance to accidentally click on. How do I get this trash off of my home page? I'm already not thrilled with some of the podcast hosts Spotify advertises and seriously considering cancelling my subscription entirely, and forcing me to look at this stuff every time I open the app is just abother reason to get away from the whole platform.
You don't shove a whole row of music I don't like at the top of my home screen, why am I seeing a whole row dedicated to Rogan before any of my own actual preferred content?
Hey folks,
Thanks for posting on the Community about this.
For now it's not possible to block certain podcast shows, however, we recommend having a look at this Live Idea suggesting the implementation of an option allowing users to perform this action within the Spotify app.
You can support the idea by adding your +VOTE and clicking on Subscribe in the three-dots menu at the top right corner next to the title. That'll make sure you stay up-to-date with any relevant updates about this. It’s also worth knowing that the higher the number of votes an idea gets, the more likely it is for the idea to be implemented.
We always take new ideas and feedback into consideration to improve the app. Here you can read more on how ideas work.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.
Hey everyone,
Thanks for sharing your feedback with the Community.
We value your feedback and will take it into consideration when moving forward. In the meantime, there are a couple more ideas besides the one @Ivan posted above, that you can add your support to:
If this is also something you'd like to see, make sure to +VOTE and subscribe to the ideas. The Idea Exchange is a great way for us to see what our users are interested in and how many people like a certain idea. You can read more about it here.
Hope this info is useful. We'll be here if you have any other questions.
Can Spotify just go ahead and announce when this contract is up and signal intention to non renew? I’m a live long resident of Newtown, CT and canceled my premium subscription quickly after Rogan was brought on. I have every intention of restarting my subscription once I know my money isn’t supporting someone who platforms people like Alex Jones, whose actions after the tragedy in my town resulted in harassment of people who were already going though unthinkable pain. Shame on Spotify for bringing him on to begin with and double shame for continuing to platform him as he spreads misinformation during a global pandemic.
Rogan is a disgrace. Absolute bin juice. You paid him $100m and have NO policy on misinformation. What exactly are the directors of Spotify playing at?
Get this dealt with.

Rogan is the tip of an ugly iceberg, I suggest you do something about this before artists start walking and when they do so will your subscribers both paid and free accounts.

I was also not pleased as a paid subscriber to see his content on the platform, much less so prominently on a central experience in the mobile and desktop apps.
I don't use Spotify for podcasts, which is likely why Spotify's exclusive content (i.e. the Rogan podcast) got pushed to me as a default sort. As a workaround until Spotify gets their act together, I subscribed to some podcasts in the polar opposite spectrum to trick the suggestion algorithm/service, which worked for me. Hope that helps.
I concur with this sentiment of removing Rogan. I am already frustrated with the degree to which Spotify has been PUSHING podcasts higher up into my visibility. The recent revelation about the relationship between Spotify and the Rogan podcast has me seriously considering termination of membership. Yes, my daughter will be upset but she'll survive. We'll simply listen to competing platforms, we're already subscribed to, more frequently. Again, we'll survive w/o Spotify. They have not responded directly to this matter as of yet. They have until my next billing cycle is about to start to respond to their paying customers on this matter. It's time to stop playing games with public health and stop the grifters. If you'll lie about one thing, you'll lie about anything. My money and lies DO NOT mix...
why would you need to block something that you can just simply ignore and don't play? I would love to block CNN but I just don't watch it.
I'm canceling my Spotify subscription until you remove Joe Rogan from my home screen. His lies are causing a great deal of harm to the world, and while maybe there's some room for free speech debate, I'm certainly not paying Spotify to show a permanent advertisement for his garbage, which takes up 10% of my screen whenever I open Spotify. Thanks to Neil Young for bringing this to my attention.
Same problem! I do not wan to even know that I might be supporting this menace to society
And to be clear, I personally don't care if Spotify hosts him or not. Spotify hosts a lot of idiots from all walks of life. I am just tired of him constantly showing up on my Home screen. Hey here's a podcast you might like, Joe Rogan. Have you tried Joe Rogan? Joe Rogan! Have you tried it? Yes? No? Well maybe you want to listen to ... Joe Rogan? I am sure you would like Joe Rogan. How about Joe Rogan tho? Just stop it. Let me hit an ignore button or something.
Joe Rogan is disgusting. Honestly, F#ck you spotify. I can't believe I've paid people who support white supremacist anti-vaxxers over classic musicians. Maybe you could promote some of Joe's conversations with Alex Jones or other racists. LET ME F#CKING BLOCK JOE F#CKING ROGAN. What about that is so hard to understand? WE DON'T WANT WHITE SUPREMACISTS TO SHOW UP ON OUR FEEDS. WE DON'T WANT ANTI-VAXXERS TO SHOW UP ON OUR FEEDS. WE DON'T WANT SCHOOL SHOOTING DENIERS TO SHOW UP ON OUR FEEDS.
Seriously, well done Spotify! You took a principled stand and decided to keep content rather that censor it. Thank you. I can decide for myself what I want to consume.
I have been a premium family subscriber for many years - but Spotify willfully allowing that **bleep** to spread lies and misinformation that is actively KILLING people by telling them to skip vaccines is beyond the pale. If you are serious about your social conscience, ban the specific pods and any new podcasts where this behaviour exists. If an artist or content producer, whomever, persists in spreading lies and misinformation or otherwise breaking your own stated rules, ban them! or are you only spouting BS in the press and just looking to make money however you can?
Unfortunately spotify should have removed rogan's podcasts of disinformation. Instead, they removed Neil Young as his integrity was too much for them. the best way to block the podcast is to move over to amazon music. it has as many songs and playlists but without rogan's absurd recommendations for kids not to get vaccinated. because an infected kid could never transfer it to someone else like a grand parent... You can use "freeyourmusic" app to transfer over your playlists. if you use your phone to control spotify on your pc you just download alexa to your PC and your phone will see it as a device and you play amazon music on your phone but hear it on your PC, you're good to go. bye-bye spotify. Too bad you chose the lower integrity fork in the road.
Why hasn’t Joe Rogan been deplatformed yet?
In a netshell, Young asked Spotify to censor content that he didn't agree with. Spotify said no. Young said it's my it's my way or the highway. Spotify said okey-doke. Young left voluntarily.
I couldn't agree more with Spotify. If Spotify did censor Rogan, then I would have canceled my account. Luckily they did the right thing.
Don't censor content. It's not good for a free society.
Hoping someone from Spotify actually reads this: Dear Spotify, if you have any common decency then you'll GET RID OF JOE ROGAN. He is an embarrasment to your platform, and quite frankly, to the human race.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
