I've already voted for the idea to allow a disable toggle for podcasts so I stop getting them inserted into recommended playlists, but how do I block a specific podcast?
The home screen of the Mac Desktop app has become a continuous advertisement for the Joe Rogan podcast, which I do not want to see nor want any chance to accidentally click on. How do I get this trash off of my home page? I'm already not thrilled with some of the podcast hosts Spotify advertises and seriously considering cancelling my subscription entirely, and forcing me to look at this stuff every time I open the app is just abother reason to get away from the whole platform.
You don't shove a whole row of music I don't like at the top of my home screen, why am I seeing a whole row dedicated to Rogan before any of my own actual preferred content?
Hey folks,
Thanks for posting on the Community about this.
For now it's not possible to block certain podcast shows, however, we recommend having a look at this Live Idea suggesting the implementation of an option allowing users to perform this action within the Spotify app.
You can support the idea by adding your +VOTE and clicking on Subscribe in the three-dots menu at the top right corner next to the title. That'll make sure you stay up-to-date with any relevant updates about this. It’s also worth knowing that the higher the number of votes an idea gets, the more likely it is for the idea to be implemented.
We always take new ideas and feedback into consideration to improve the app. Here you can read more on how ideas work.
Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any questions.
Hey everyone,
Thanks for sharing your feedback with the Community.
We value your feedback and will take it into consideration when moving forward. In the meantime, there are a couple more ideas besides the one @Ivan posted above, that you can add your support to:
If this is also something you'd like to see, make sure to +VOTE and subscribe to the ideas. The Idea Exchange is a great way for us to see what our users are interested in and how many people like a certain idea. You can read more about it here.
Hope this info is useful. We'll be here if you have any other questions.
For anyone following along, that "real medical documentation" was essentially withdrawn by the same publication after "The exclusion of the suspicious data appears to invalidate the findings regarding the ivermectin's potential to decrease the mortality of COVID-19 infection." Just keeping the record straight.
"The investigation of these allegations is incomplete and inconclusive at this time."
Just keeping the record straight🤣🤣🤣
Nice to see this idea has gotten traction after a year... I am all for free speech but in the interest of free speech I don't want any Joe Rogan in my feed or on my homepage I get you sunk a ton of money into the property but that's your problem not mine. I pay for your service and I don't want to see anything Joe Rogan I don't want to see his favorite songs or his new podcasts and I would prefer my membership fee pay for artists that bring value to the platform. In the interest of free speech, I should have the right to ignore it and at the moment your platform is cramming it down our throats.
Why has this still not been implemented. I pay for a **bleep**ing account, why can't I block things I don't want suggested or to auto play. Joe rogans podcast seems to be the biggest thing for this. It keeps showing up in 'my episodes' and gives me no ability to remove it. I am not subscribed to his podcast and never have been, If I leave the computer auto-playing it inevitably starts playing. Block is such a simple feature why could we possibly still be waiting for a block function after several **bleep** years!
i have this insufferable personin my feed again ,please take it out. if certain ilk of people like it show it yo thembut dont just plant it in the home menu
Attempt #3 because Spotify is keeps deleting this right after it posts 😂; unfortunately, Spotify's new deal with JR and locking the only mentioned possibility of a solution by staff in this thread with the status "Not Right Now" and an admission of no immediate plans for it shows they do not care for even their paying users voicing these concerns. Spotify is propping up a misogynistic, misinformation-spreading, conman and absolutely has it in their power to allow users to customize their home screen or block artists, basic features which web apps have long been capable of, but are choosing not to. I know this comment will obviously get lost in the void if Spotify doesn't delete it again, but I can't stay silent about this. I pay for my plan to avoid commercials in the audio, permanent home screen billboards are no different. No one here is crazy; this IS ridiculous, and Spotify CAN and SHOULD be better.
Joe Rogan is a sad example of a human being. He spouts vitriol and misinformation. Why in the world do rational people support his lack of integrity. Our country is going to the toilet because we support liars and people dividing us. Giving Rogan a contract is just as bad as people with limited means send money to Trump who uses it to pay his legal fees brought on by his attitude that he can do anything. Anyone older than 50 and living in New York State knows Trump is as loathsome as Rogan.
Why on Earth, after all this negative feedback on this topic for the last 3 years, would Spotify not add the simple option to hide a specific podcast (or any item really) from showing up on your feed / homescreen? Facebook has the option to hide all kinds of things. Does Spotify not have software engineers or designers?
Adding my views here - driving a long haul last night and thought I'd try out a podcast only to find out that despite paying for premium Spotify for YEARS now (including buying multiple Car Things for family members, which Spotify almost immediately cancelled after issuing, thanks a lot for that too by the way), Spotify FORCED me to start listening to Joe Rogan without giving me any sort of options to try and find another option. I was so frustrated I was screaming at the Car Thing and finally gave up listening to Spotify entirely because I was so angry. Jumped on today immediately to find out how to completely BLOCK Joe Rogan only to find out Spotify doesn't care about giving its paying customers a choice and instead just gives some vague response that dodges the issue entirely pretending to care about what its customers are asking for, which is simply a CHOICE. This is a guy that Spotify BLOCKED not too long ago, and instead you are now forcing him down everybody's throat and giving him a full and unfettered advertisement platform by holding your customer base hostage. Oh, and the little trick about "subscribe to his podcast and then turn off notifications" is BS: this just makes it look like his podcast is MORE popular. I came to Spotify as an alternative to Apple Music and Pandora, thanks a lot for making me rethink this choice and ruining what has up until now been a wonderful experience. Do better. Add the Block option for podcasts.
I tried scrubbing a few episodes so I could leave a one star rating, but it's still suggested. I have no idea why, but I keep seeing his stupid face in my feed.
Some things I don't like and some things I really don't like. I'd like the ability to block them. It'd be so awesome to be able to block specific podcasts, songs, or artists.
Not having that ability really makes me hate Spotify.
Posting my reply to the "Option to disable or hide podcasts entirely" topic:
Not being able to block a podcast and restricting rating it behind watching it first only AMPLIFIES the problematic content. Given how social media algorithms work, this defeats the purpose of BLOCKING!
I don't want to see Joe **bleep**ing Rogan. I DEFINITELY DO NOT want to see the adjacent content to that **bleep**hole's platform. I understand he (and the adjacent content) has a right to be on this platform, but I have an equal right to ignore and never see it until my choosing.
And to the troll/simp in this thread, blocking would work both ways. We get the option to block Rogan, you get the option to block AP, NPR, or any other left leaning channel.
Back after three years to ask why we keep getting this dirtbag weirdo pushed to the top of our Podcast feeds and we can't block him. Any luck @ivan and @mihail? Or are we going to have to have you guys funding even more right wing lunatics?
It is three years since you replied. How goes our ability to block podcasts? Because I see this dirtbag's podcast being pushed to the top of my feed every time I log in, and I would rather listen to damn near anything else than that thick necked fascist.
this dirtbag even pushes my listened to podcast out of the way i reported it but i doubt it makes a difference
3 years on and spotify has done **bleep** all to add a block option.
I also have the same issue.
1. I realise SOME people like JRE ... but I personally don't. I find it offensive, plus it's irritating to scroll through every day. The people who like JRE might find it offensive if Spotify made them scroll through certain other podcasters. At the end of the day, Spotify just needs a block option as paying customers should have some control of their homepage that gets presented to them every day. It shouldn't be that hard to implement.
2. I initially took my query to Spotify Customer Support via their chat. I naively thought that Customer Support extended to features, usability and feedback so that Spotify's product and algorithms might improve. However, Ayesha at Customer Support did the chat equivalent of a hang-up since my query didn't relate to Accounts or Payments. She just rudely ended the chat with no "thank you for your feedback" or "yes, we can pass that on". The upshot is that I'm more offended by Spotify's lousy customer service and treatment of someone who's been dutifully paying for the Family Plan for 5+ years. At this point I'm wondering if I should just go with the alternative providers or maybe even just gradually purchase the 250 tracks that I've been regularly cycling through.
Anyhow - those are just my thoughts. Hopefully Spotify can take it onboard (though I have my doubts that they even care at this point)
I watched Joe Rogan ONCE, only so I could rate his podcast 1 star and get him off my homefeed. Instead, ever since then, Spotify has continuously shown me his stupid obnoxious grin on the New Episodes feed for 2 months now. No matter how many times I hit "Not Interested" on new episodes, no matter how many times I take this issue to Spotify support, so matter how many podcasts I watch in order to get him off my your shows feed, I am STILL SHOWN new episodes from that **bleep**.
I am at my limit. If Spotify "can't" (because I'm convinced the "advisors" I was speaking to on the support page were bots and that the algorithm is specifically tailored to his BS) get JRE off my New Episodes feed by Saturday, I'm cancelling my subscription. My patience has evaporated today.
I like Joe! Keep him. He's the type of guy that would fight for you and give you the shirt off his back. Everyone else on this thread please ask yourself: 'How can you be so virtuous to want equality, but in the same vain act like a 2 year old narcissist having tantrums and being so mean to people you have never met'. Stop being spineless and fake.
Please for the love of God, how do i stop Spotify from recommending the Joe Rogan Experience?
Last night my white noise podcast ended and it immediately started playing that garbage, what a horrible voice to wake up to.
