So Spotify literally signed a 100 MILLION dollar contract for JRE back in May, not even a year later they’re raising their subscription prices while their UI and algorithms are still garbage. Your company is worth 67 BILLION dollars. What’s the point of taking more? So y’all can pay joe rogan more money? Or so you can continue to pay convicted rapists and pedophiles? Your value TRIPLED during covid (per reports) and now you’re taking MORE?
Doubtful it’s going to go to artists who could use the royalty pennies and recognition, just going to get more privileged rich guys and music I literally don’t listen to shoved down my throat on my “curated” playlists week after week, regardless of not following them and having “don’t play this artist” selected. Why not start “curating” by removing unfollowed/disliked artists from new release lineups, playlists, and homepages? If you’re going to take MORE money from people and families during a pandemic, from people who gave you the platform you have, the LEAST you could do is fix some of the issues plaguing your forums for over 5 years at this point.
But yeah, great move (during covid and unprecedented unemployment of all times), take an extra dollar from families and students so y’all can line you and your millionaire buddies’ pockets because you paid a stupid amount of money for JRE and not 100% of your listeners are tuning in. Or are you simply teaming up with the hedge funds to get back at us “little guys” (that aren’t even involved)?

Suddenly having to pay more for a service you use is only natural to be frustrating. But price adjustments are sometimes necessary so companies can continue to operate, improve, add new features and stay competitive.
There can be many reasons for this, some even external ones, requiring to adjust prices to reflect local macroeconomic factors and meet market demands, while at the same time being able to keep the expected service from customers.
In this case, Spotify has notified all existing subscribers to let them know when new prices will become effective and the new price points for Premium plans. Existing users will also have a grace period until the new price is effective during which they can decide if they want to continue subscribing under the new price.
As for the other points you raised - please keep in mind that the "Don't play this" feature is device and playlist specific. This means that when you mark a certain song with it, it may still come up on other devices and playlists. It seems however that other users have posted this idea about making this feature function across playlists and devices. You can add your support there and subscribe, we'll share any updates on the matter there, as soon as there are any.
