My Question or Issue
Dislike button missing in a lot of playlists in Spotify. Is this a bug? A feature?
This problem is making me crazy, before (like last year) I could like/dislike any song from the majority of playlists Spotify offered me (radios, daily mixes, etc) now it is impossible to dislike...So how is Spotify going to know if I like a song or not?
Only My Release Radar and Discover Weekly keep for now the like/dislike button...
I think this is an important functionality to have in the app. We as users want to configure the platform as we want, so that the offered music as good as possible. If now Spotify is going to begin to have fixed playlists (radio, daily mixes, etc), instead of letting the user change them liking/disliking songs...don't know if I can stay paying...even when I have all my music library in Spotify, and will be difficult to go to other platforms...
Please, please! Return the dislike button to your playlists!
Yeah im unsubscribing from spotify and going back to bootlegging all my music again if this $h!t doesnt stop ADD THE DISLIKE BUTTON BACK SPOTIFY WERE YALL EVEN THINKING?
The hide button doesnt even work, at all even a little bit GIVE US BACK THE DAMN DISLIKE BUTTON SPOTIFY IM THIS CLOSE TO NEVER PAYING FOR MUSIC AGAIN
I one hundred percent agree with this post. I have been extremely perplexed with the lack of dislike button. In fact, it seems easier to have that kind of function, so that we can carve out our own music accordingly and the algorithm doesn’t even need to be involved in that delineation. I’m not sure what kind of focus group would’ve ever told you to remove it, but it has me questioning why I’m paying for a service that’s getting worse and worse over time. What a fundamental feature to remove after years! 🤬
I have this feature added on my spotify the last 2 months.
It is in a form of a minus ( - ) botton right next to "Next Song"
BUT this not available
on all the places.
It is availabe on :
"My Daily Mixes No.XYZ" .
The songs played AFTER a playlist has ENDED either this playlist is mede by me either it is a playlist i have added from spotify (User and Spotify made).
The songs played AFTER a radio playlist has ENDED.
In general rule it is available on any song played by Spotify's algorithm after the specific played has ended.
Those songs are played beause i have ENABLED the option "AUTOPLAY" in the settings menu.
Hey there folks,
Thanks for sharing your experiences with the Community!
The Hide Song button should be visible in the Now playing view in the following playlists: Daily Mixes, Release Radar and Discover weekly, as well as on the Autoplay songs.
The idea behind this is to be able dislike songs from those lists with recommendations, which helps the algorithm to give you songs you might like better in the future.
Don't forget that you can also block artists if you don't want to hear songs from them, by going to their Artist profile and selecting the Don't play this option from the 3-dot menu. Note: You might still hear songs from blocked artists if they are featured in the track of another artist.
Let us know if you have more questions 🙂
This would be awesome if it would work like you mentioned.
But using the latest app version iOS I' dont see that button in my Release Radar playlist or "playing now" view. It's only reachable via the three dots menu.
Hey there @phloo,
Thanks for your post.
Sorry for the mixup, at the moment, the "Dislike" button is only available directly on the Now Playing view for users on the free version. So if you're a Premium user you can currently access this function from the 3-dot menu.
Have a look at this post from @Xenia in that thread for more info.
Give us a shout, if you have more questions.
So a Premium user has less comfort then a free user. Nice. Not!
I've got to agree with you on this one; it makes no sense and has been VERY frustrating. I don't want to go out of my way, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING, to dislike a song on my Discover Weekly playlist. A majority of my listening is whenever I'm driving, and now my algorithm has been completely **bleep** up because I don't want to deal with extra steps while driving 80mph down the highway. I've been a premium user since 2012 and have honestly just considered canceling my membership at this point, especially when I see that free users have better access than premium.
Hey @phloo and @Brandils,
Thanks for reaching out and voicing your concerns.
We understand that certain differences in the UI between between devices and subscriptions might cause some frustration.
We're constantly trying to improve the app and your feedback helps us a lot. One of the best ways for us to see what our users are interested in and how many people like a certain idea is the Idea Exchange. We recommend that you head over and post an idea about the features you'd like to have there. We'll inform on any developments there, if there are any.
Hope you find this useful. Keep us posted if you have any questions.
Mihail,
adding ideas is great. However, you should understand that with all due respect to your service, most people just want to listen to music, and not generate ideas at all. Like/dislike in relation to a song, album, author, or whatever-the basic level of possibilities. Everyone has different tastes and the like and dislike buttons should always be at hand. Always!
Moreover, it is the 21st century and in the vast majority of services if you click "don't like", the composition simply disappears. And never comes back ANYWHERE. As i dont like it and i want to dont see it anywhere in this service. For me of coz. 🙂
If I make my own playlist, then to remove an unnecessary song, i need the "remove from playlist" button. But if I'm listening to someone else's playlist, dayly mix, album, etc. - the "don't like" button has the only meaning "I don't want to listen to THIS ANYMORE: this song, album, artist, etc."
Why do we need to offer you ideas of such BASIC level as "i want to eat", "i want to hear or dont hear some music"?
valid for any platform or OS.
I agree completely, I'm switching to Pandora as of next month because they understand what a dislike button is And when I dislike a song it NEVER ever plays again on pandora, id rather give them my money since they understand we don't want a "hide" button we want a *never play this again anywhere period ever* button it's a real shame that Spotify doesn't care about it's users
The recent moderator responses show that Spotify is not even as far as to "not care".
These guys do not even understand.
I have come to the realization that Spotify is a stupid service by stupid people for the stupid masses.
Everyone else just should give up and move on.
Thank you for doing nothing and proving to me you Do Not care about me or any of your other users You do not care about me and your company will not be making any more money from me ever again
**bleep**. Over a year later, and it's still an issue? SMH
Yes! I'm just about to cancel my premium subscription because everything sounds the same now. I feel like it's a waste of money.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
