Windows volume up/down keys do not work when spotify has focus

On Win7 Pro 64-bit.

They don't affect neither the Spotify volume nor the global Windows volume. (I'd prefer the latter, plz.)

thanks for posting on the Community!

From your reports it seems this issue comes and goes for some of you. We can take a closer look again, but could you please share a video recording of what happens? You can send a link to it or attach it using the Insert Video option in the post editor. 

This might be dependent on the drivers that are responsible for your media keys, as those are separate from Spotify. If those were updated recently that might explain the change in behavior. We'll deep dive once we get more info from you.

This happens on EVERY computer, please fix this asap, its F'ING annoying, and has been present for months!   HP laptop,  my desktop with logitech illuminated keyboard, my other desktop with a bluetooth keyboard, my sony laptop....

I am in total agreement!  I would like my SYSTEM(Not Spotify) volume controls to work when Spotify is in focus!  Although, AFTER this has been fixed, an option to select which volume is affected would be nice, but that is not as important to me.

I have a multimedia keyboard (G15) and I use the volume control on it all the time.

Spotify is the only program I own that disables the volume control on my keyboard... how have you done that?!

I have to switch to some other program I have open just to enable the volume control on my keyboard!!)

I don't want to use the slider in Spotify. It's slower and it's unecessary. I don't have to work around it with any other program. Plus of course I may want to reduce Windows volume, not just spotify, so that's why I can't just use the spotify volume slider.

I fear this is something to do with preventing people from easily turning the volume down on adverts because it used to work fine once...

I've had this problem ever since I started using Spotify and thought it would be fixed in later updates. It hasn't. I can only change the volume with my keyboard, while in Spotify, by hitting it one by one. I can't hold down the volume or hit it too rapidly.

SPOTIFY please fix this. It is very annoying.

Why is this not fixed yet? It has been this way since the beginning and I think it is the only program I have ever used that does this. And this is a MUSIC PLAYER no less. A type of program that needs volume adjustments often! Seriously spotify devs....WHY?

Changed back to "new idea" status - once this idea reaches 100+ kudos the Spotify staff will review it again and decide on a new status. ~ Peter

@Julmuri It's not that situation. Media keys work normally, but as soon as Spotify window gets focus, volume up/down keys do nothing (other keys work, by the way).

Running into the same issue here.  It seems like this should be relatively simple to fix.  The fact that spotify breaks the volume controls is a very strange user experience.
