[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

Don't wanna listen to podcasts. They are boring. You spamming my homepage with them is not going to make me suddenly want to, in fact they're pushing me further away from doing so. Just let me see music please.

Opening my spotify home screen I suddenly see a full row of "Comedy hour"  cluttering the page. I dont have any interest in that - how can I remove it? PLEASE NO podcasts, NO comedy hour or other non-music related stuff should be listed on my home page. Suggestions should be down below the "recently played" and "made for you". Preferably you could create a separate "suggestions"  or "new"  or "fresh" page to advocate material totally unrelated to my current interests.

The home page should be MY home not yours. I pay to have ads and clutter removed. How and if not when will I be able to personalize my home page please?

It's simply outrageous that I cannot remove a disgusting recommendation of a pseudo-**bleep** child-appealling attention-whoring pocast named "ASMR with Amouranth". I try to keep away from this unbearable ultra reality stuff and it just gets thrown at my face in a service I am paying each month for.

I am seriously considering cancelling my sub. I already got fed up of product placement and marketing bombardment, Spotify insisting me on listening to some stupid big hit of the moment that nobody will remember in a year. But this is just the straw that broke the camel's back. You guys better address this.

Can't believe people actually believe in pseudoscientific horoscopes let alone employ a developer to implement such nonsense. It is astounding that a company is able to create an application, and employ developers, and then implement such a nonsense feature while the rest of the application remains stagnant - it's almost as if all rationality and reasoning were thrown out the window and nobody spoke up about such a useless feature being developed.

Meanwhile, the "discover weekly" and "release radar" are in dire need of improvement to the matching logic because 99% of what it finds is utter rubbish and not my taste.

Take for example, I may play some toddler playlist for my daughter and then my discover weekly will have all of a sudden some toddler stuff thrown in with my normal music... wth?

What exactly am I paying for?

I use Spotify (premium) for several years and like it very much because of the MUSIC i discover, but this whole podcast thing is very annoying. I open Spotify to listen to MUSIC, i don't want chatter or let my ears clean with a tongue.

I understand that for other people podcasts may be a thing and it is fine if Spotify support podcasts, but please let the user decide. Why not just add a option "disable podcasts" or at least seperate podcasts from music.

At least add an option to dismiss podcast or other recommendations on the home page. I am not at all interested in listening to podcasts on my music app. Just let me listen to whatever I want and hide what I don't want to see/hear. It's so annoying to see pictures of people I loathe on their podcast or album pictures on my home page on an app that I pay for. Hide/dismiss/don't recommend whatever you want to call it. Just make actual improvements on your software instead of useless GUI shuffles.

It's preposterous that we are getting recommended artists and podcasts STUCK at the top of our homepage for a premium service.  It would make sense for non premium users, but how are you going to show me ads for CLEARLY Spotify promoted things that are in NO WAY related to anything I've ever listened to.  Example: "Ashley flowers: true crimes" is STUCK at the top of my homepage, getting in the way of my access to the music I actually want to play, there is no way to remove, or even move this lower.  I have NEVER listened to an audio book on Spotify, nor do I intend to.   ZERO interest in a silly audiobook like this.  Please change!

I'd especially like to turn off podcast suggestions or at the very least move them to the bottom. They show up right on the top, and I use spotify for music 99.5% of the time.

Or just a separate tab like any other application

  • This is a simple, actionable move. If you will not listen to your users will you advise why this is a "not now" item?
