[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

View options! This cannot be too difficult.

Macbook pro, Spotify running on external monitor and taking WAY more space than it needs to for what it does.

[ALREADY HELPFUL - Zoom and ability to shrink/expand left side of window is a GREAT START but there is still ALOT more that needs be done.]

HOME: (This is a terrible default that doesn't seem changeable.... just like music, people like different options available)

"Good morning" - remove

"Episodes for you" - remove

"Recommended for you" - remove or last section in scroll

"Recently Played" - leave - rearrange to #1 or #2 top down

"Favorite Artists" - leave - rearrange to #1 or #2 top down

Action - Zoom all the way out, make app window as small as possible, select a playlist

Result: Aside from left side of lists, the app window is split 50/50 of a VERY LARGE playlist name, album cover or icon and a second large green play and smaller download button. This allows me to see 5 songs at a time and the window could allow at least 15-20 if someone put any thought into designing it.

I understand customizing the home page would be a lot of work, but at least let us remove the "Episodes for you" section. I almost never listen to podcasts (as is the case for lots of people), and I certainly don't want it taking up half the page on the very top of my Home page. It's gone beyond being middly annoying to being a total eyesore. I'll see it and think "I don't care about any of this, and there's nothing I can do to change it". Think for a bit, you have a music app that your customers use mainly for listening to music, and you're shoving talk shows down everyone's throat? I'm sure whatever ML model or data engine you use for recommendations must be able to identify if a user even listens to podcasts somewhat regularly. And if not, what's the effort of adding a little flag to hide that on the app side?

Jobble

Why are podcasts at the top of the page? Why do I have to see them every day? I do not listen to podcasts, do not want to listen to them, do not want to see them.

I keep asking the same question. I have NEVER listened to any podcast and yet these dominate the opening screen. Why? I have looked for a solution a few times and there is none? If not I will close the account soon and go to a service where music is top-of-the-list

FFS Spotify, I don't want to see a horoscope or your proprietary podcasts on my homepage, if it engages some customers - cool, but allow ME to disable this nonsense. Btw, misclick is not "engagement"

Chorloo

Implement this change now.

I've started using Apple podcasts to listen to my podcasts instead of Spotify just because the podcasts have taken over my home screen. Even ones I only listened to for 10 minutes and never again. They all persist. I would like to be able to remove them. Even unfollowing doesn't remove them.

Burgerbraterfre

Can't believe this is still not implemented.

Do you even check what you "recommend" at the top of peoples homepages... ?

Why the **bleep** there isn't an option to remove podcasts from homepage or at least "do not recommend" or "i don't like it" button for every podcast?

I'm seriously considering cancelling my subscription because of this.

the ability to customize the home tab as in choosing what you want to see and what not to see like blocking podcasts or country music and if you choose to rap or rock, it will suggest your playlists to your liking because sometimes I will listen to one song or podcast and a whole lot of others suggest to me because of that of that one song or if your music tastes change it would be nice to have
