[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

Please allow us to customize our home page. I do not care about the podcasts! How about a customizable list of artists, or albums we would like to remain readily available. This seems to be common sense. Podcasts are the last thing I want to see on my home page. Make them available in a tab elsewhere. thanks!

So basically the "not right now" status just means no, doesn't seem like the idea system is that democratic or useful then. Current ideas are being closed because there's an almost 4 year old idea still open - which is still getting so much traffic to this day because it's obvious that the majority of the customers want this functionality. Or at the very least the ability to remove unwanted suggestions. Is Spotify getting paid for these suggestions? Seems like ads to me - which premium customers pay to avoid. I just cannot understand why else they won't implement this when the community consensus is so overwhelming.

I think the 'not right now' status is just Spotify trying to politely tell us to pi$$ off. But they might as well say it straight. Even Netflix has a thumbs down option if you see something you don't like, and it seems to stay away from the recommended shows/movies.

However, and I'm going to be bluntly honest, I'm just too exhaustipated right now, too tired to give a sh.. I just press play on a Daily Mix or Discover weekly then minimise the app and get on with other things. I actually spend little time in the app, I seldom browse. I have then set it to keep playing similar music if the chosen playlist finishes. So far, Spotify has learned well and is still learning from what I like to hear, when it comes to music, which is their one saving grace right now. I could not be bothered to switch to Apple Music or Deezer and then having to re-teach their algorithms what I like.

As long as it's only learn French podcasts that they recommend, I can handle that. It's if/when they start recommending some of the trash that other people are seeing then I might throw my toys out the cot.

I think what's bothering us all is not that they recommend podcasts, it's the totally irrelevant podcasts that they're showing us. Fix that, and the world might just become a better place.

I stopped using spotify but come back sometimes to check if the team remotely cares about user experience.
They still don't. 5 years, 72 pages full of people requesting a change, but Spotify DOES NOT CARE.

Wrong thread for this post

Would love this so that I don't have to see the Joe Rogan suggestion every time I open the app.

but the email says there is nothing i need to do if it is me!  So if I respond . . . then you are thinking it's not me!

+1 for this feature. Joe Rogan has a tile every time I open Spotify. It's basically a dedicated play button which occupies like 10% of my home screen. I've canceled my subscription and will use another music service until Spotify stops pushing an alt-right political agenda in my face.

I pay for this product.  I pay $17 a month now.  Why did everybody jump to this thing that apparently is strictly less functional than a pocket MP3 player from 20 years ago?  Why can't I remove something that I don't want?  I could do that with an iPod Classic.

Maybe the right answer to this junk isn't streaming services.  Maybe we need proper systems for actually buying digital music from the artists.  Streaming services like Spotify seem to just want to create yet another "curated experience" that takes functionality and control that the users have had for decades away from them.

I admire Spotify for having the guts to host controversial podcasts. I'm not asking Spotify to "cancel" anyone; I just want all podcasts off my home page!
