[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

Gosh, what's the purpose of adding "Not intersted in" and "Exclude from taste profile" if all it does is hide the selected items in the "Music" tab TEMPORARILY and KEEP showing it constantly in the front page?

I'm not intersted in the music from the country my credit card is registered in, nor I am in the podcats you keep showing at the TOP of my homescreen.

Seriously, I should have left the moment you lied about Hi-fi's release date AND chose Joe Rogan over Neil Young and Joni Mitchel, at that very moment you shifted from a wonderful music app to an n'th podcast app.

Our roads diverge at the end of my annual subscription, thanks for nothing.

Just realized this have been asked for more than 8years in another closed thread, y'all really don't care about your costumers lol

Absolutely mad that they just said, "No" to a feature many have been requesting (yelling) for almost a decade.

Without customization, Spotify CarPlay shows inappropriate podcasts names to anyone in the car - including my 2 young kids. How is Spotify ok with this privacy concern?
You are actively NOT aligning to security standards.

A product feature MVP is just allowing customers to remove Podcasts from showing on the Home Screen (and therefore the Spotify CarPlay Home Screen). If that is a business risk, then allow users to push Podcasts to the bottom of the homescreen. The full feature would be true customization on the individual podcast level, but it’s been 7 yrs since posts showed any nothing is done - other than telling us we can say Not Interested in recommendations. That does NOT help the homescreen issue!

I think there’s a lawsuit in the making. You’re not protecting users privacy. One poster mentioned she played 1 LGBT podcast and now that’s all that appears in her Home Screen. Anyone in her car immediately sees the podcasts, essentially putting her sexual preference on display for those on her car. She’s not out to everyone yet —- What a privacy concern!!

I work in tech, for a company that holds up privacy standards, it’s a priority. You will be sued for your ignorance in protecting user privacy.

  • I think a feature spotify really needs is to be able to remove or hide things from the home page. I feel as if the community has agreed that the “not interested” button in the music, podcasts & shows, and audiobooks was just not enough. I’ve noticed me and other users have podcasts (in the smaller bars that are at the top of the screen) that they have no interest in as well as inappropriate and suggestive things. Most of these podcasts have never even been played once. I’m having this problem as well. There are some inappropriate podcasts that I have not played before on the top of my home screen. I’m also a minor. I would prefer not to see these things because one I’m not interested in these things and I do not want people to get the wrong impression if they happen to look at my phone.

Please put more thought into this. The community could even possibly come up with references to help put these plans into action. There are over 11k people asking for this and we’ve been asking for a long time.

The above comment is a really considered and calm response from a young person, describing the problems the lack of this feature is causing them. They must be listened to. If Spotify continues to ignore this then it's a disgrace.

all the ideas who refer to more personal configuration are always denied :

- personalize homepage : eg the page new releases for albums & singles is now further away in the section 'search" ; this would be on top of my home screen instead of 8 mixes specially for you

- personalize the view of playlists : what fields to view (not everyone needs duration or date added, others pergaos want genre, date added, title/artist in seperate fields

- personalize  the cover art of the playlist folders

- personalize the tagging of tracks : own genre, own corrected release date for compilation tracks eg

- personalize / remember option to only view music and exclude podcast (now each time you have to select music to exclude podcast)

- personalize / remember option to disable smart shuffle : now you need to toggle off/shuffle/smartshuffle ; you can easily toggle 2x by mistake and the icon showing the smart shuffle on is small (for my old eyes)

Spotify company feels like a communist party, they tell you what to see or do and otherwise just shut up !

Please give us the option to customize topics being displayed on home page.

As soon as I open up my main page, I get a recommendation of a topic that I don’t care about.
Keeps showing up on my car, tablets etc. Super annoying.

The user should have the ability to click an X to remove the recommendations.

I just wanted to comment here to reiterate how much I want this feature as well. I just got the update with reels in Spotify 🤮. I don’t  wanna see those in my music app. 😪
