[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

I registered a profile here just to comment on this issue. This situation is infuriating. I feel absolutely ignored by Spotify, showing its colors as just another corporation which isn't actually interested in what its users want or need. This "idea" is, when I checked a moment ago, #3 out of over 2,000 on Spotify's community hub -- yet their official response to it is: "We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement." Translation - "We aren't doing this, because we don't want to". Probably because upper management thinks it won't lead to more profits, is my humble guess. But at any rate, here is a major annoyance to at least 13,546 users (these are the votes this "idea" has), which is being sidelined completely.

As a consumer of web services with many different companies, I value my ability to customize and choose what I want to see and when. Spotify clearly doesn't care to make me, or my fellow 13,545 other users, happy with what we see on our screens daily. And the crazy thing is, this probably loses Spotify clicks, listens and views! Instead of letting me **choose** the content I want to see there, which would lead to a much higher engagement potential, I am left angry and annoyed at seeing things I don't want to see. This leads me to feel increasing frustration with Spotify, and encourages me to look elsewhere for my music and podcasts.

What a shame. Do better, Spotify. You owe it to your users. Especially those, like me, who are paying monthly for your services.

If you don't, I, and many like me, will soon find other ways to listen to our music. And I'll be encouraging everyone I know to do the same.

Just adding my request to the 100's of others. Please make the home screen configurable. Also, please make the display in Car Play configurable. It's God-awful and every change to the UI makes it harder to use when in the car. Please Spotify, make these things configurable.

it's disappointing. listening to music should be a joy, not a chore. not asking for these features on a whim. the service should add to a meaningful experience. for now, i've let my Premium subscription expire, as i explore alternatives.

Seriously!  HITLER? Now spotify has gone to being directly offensive.
Voting is useless. So is the feigned concern from spotify.

Quit forcing shows upon me. I do not want you to autoplay a random podcast that I am not 'Following'. Or at the very least let me delete it from "My Shows" after you put it in there. Beyond ridiculous.

I found this idea because I was trying to find a way of removing things from my home screen. Sometimes I Iisten to a new podcast to see if I like it. Often I don't, but it still appears alongside all my other regular ones. Unlike my regular listens, I don't follow these podcasts but they're still there.

Even just amending the home screen to only show things you're following would be great. That way if you don't want to see something, just stop following it. Not as bothered about full customisation but this seems like the most similar idea.

I will end my subscription of many years as a result of Spotify's failure to address this issue. Ridiculous!

I would love this. I hate seeing mom content because Spotify assumes that based on my age and gender I should be a mom (I'm not). This is stereotypical profiling, it's rude and it's wrong.

I'm disgusted whenever I see the start screen and it says "from moms to moms".

Please make it stop

I can only hit that thumbs up on this one. As avid users, we often find ourselves greeted by suggestions on our home screen that may not always align with our current mood or preferences. While these suggestions are well-intentioned, they can sometimes lead to a less than optimal experience. The ability to tailor what we first see when opening Spotify – be it our favorite playlists, recently played tracks, or the artists we're following – could make our interactions with the app more enjoyable and personal.

I understand the complexities involved in rolling out new features and the careful consideration that goes into each update. However, I believe this enhancement could be a game-changer in how users engage with Spotify, making the platform even more user-friendly and tailored to individual tastes.

On a separate note, I've observed that this community forum is a treasure trove of innovative ideas. I encourage the Spotify team to continue exploring these suggestions. The community's insights can be invaluable in understanding user needs and preferences. However, I understand from a user perspective it's also worth considering that the majority of Spotify users are on the free tier, which might influence the company's strategic focus. As premium members, we might feel that our experience is not optimally prioritized, which could be a result of Spotify balancing the needs of its vast free user base against the expectations of paying customers.

Lastly, I want to touch upon the integration of Spotify with other systems, like iOS. Seamless integration enhances the overall experience, especially for those of us who switch between different devices and platforms. Improving this aspect could reduce friction and make Spotify an even more integral part of our daily lives.

Thank you for considering my feedback. I am enthusiastic about Spotify's potential for even greater user-centric innovations and look forward to seeing how our shared ideas can shape the future of this fantastic platform, hopefully in a way that aligns with the needs and expectations of both free and premium users.

Warm regards,

I
