[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

Absolutely this.

I think it is fair for Spotify to push podcasts/playlists/whatever to free users, but for those of us that pay for premium I think we should be able to customise our home page. We should not be subject to advertising as we pay to not have it. And pushing content that artists, labels, podcasters etc have paid to have promoted IS advertising. Why can't we just choose what we want on our own home pages?

Hello,

I suggest if it's possible to change the front page with artists that any of your clients prefer or with artists in that area of interest.

Why. ...?

On my home page always is appearing "Top local hits" or other "local music titles". I think you are thinking that I need that because I live in Romania?

WRONG.

I want to see on the front page new releases of the artist I like or similar what I like (it is better because I can discover new artists in the same area of interest).

I have no interest in local hits, so it is not at all helpful.

I didn't like not one local artist. I don't listen to that music.

You think that maybe in the future I would like local music because is on the front page? Also WRONG.

Thank you

In short, the homepage is a cluster and I avoid it!

It's not a home page, it's a selling page.

Have the option to not have Kanye, who I haven’t listened to in 5 years, be suggested in the Spotify created playlists that appear on my home page. How in 2025 is this still a suggested listen? The guy who just a released a song called Heil Hitler.

This was a nightmare just trying to make a post for spotify support to see. I’ve been a spotify premium user since 2012. This is my second account. I’m getting real sick of these UI changes being pushed every other week.

If you guys are going to keep adding clutter to the app at least give us the option to customise the UI.

I use spotify for easy access to my music. I don’t want videos, if i did i would be using youtube. I don’t want the tiktok style feed on the homepage (or anywhere really)

The homepage should show what i want it to show. I’m sick of getting AI generated playlists pushed on me instead of the curated ones.

Im sick of having to leave the homepage to find my music. Why is my library not the homepage? Make it make sense. Why do i need a dedicated create playlist button?

Why cant i hide the podcasts tab? Why cant i hide the audiobooks tab?

Why can i not hide all the new releases? There should be a seperate tab for all that clutter. If i want to listen to my saved music it should be easy like it used to be. When i want to discover new music it should be seperate from music ive already discovered. Why is it merged? Why is it so hard to find my On Repeat playlist or my Release Radar or my Top Songs playlists?

Do what you want with the app but either give us custom UI options or stop pushing all this nonsense.

I’ve been wanting to cancel premium for years now but a part of me thinks you guys will figure it out & fix this stuff. It hasn’t happened & im losing hope as the app keeps getting worse, less optimised & cluttered. I keep saying it. Its a mess. I’m about to give up on spotify. I pay for premium & it doesn’t feel like premium product anymore.

It is the same people working on this UI for years and they are bad at their job. According to LinkedIn, this is one their senior UI devs

8 years working on the UI at Spotify……

No because I'm actually losing it too. I used to hit play on music on my computer and it would just play the music and show me a nice little album cover in the left corner. Now it wants to show me a looping nauseating video, every music video the artist ever made, their life story, the lyrics, who wrote the lyrics and I can see the album cover twice on my screen. Worst UI design ever. Using the app makes me feel nauseated. Open any other music app that isn't subscription-based and look at the difference. Its designed to work. Spotify is trying to make their music app into tiktok so more people will listen to their AI generated music that floods this platform.

You can delete playlists that appear on the home screen that you don't use or that you don't want to be there. They appear as recommendations and can't be deleted, just like artists.

That is unfortunate.

To not be able to remove a suggested artist or whomever is just pathetic.

Why would you irritate the people paying for your service?

That's just bad business.  And I don't think I've ever selected an artist off of that suggestion anyway - if I have, it hasn't been often.

This just guarantees that I will ignore everything that pops up there from now on.
