Slow loading and performance issues

We've received reports about increased load times when performing actions like opening a playlist/menu or playing content. This affects primarily (but may not be limited to) mobile devices running Android and iOS.

Thanks for the additional info.

Our engineers are aware of some performance issues for users with large libraries and are working on them, but since this is a continuous process, we can't give an exact ETA. 

In the meantime, feel free to check if changing your streaming quality settings will make a difference in the app's performance.

Fix so the app doesn't take 5 minutes to load the next song when playing large 10,000+ song playlists on shuffle. I haven't been able to listen to my liked playlist in years without taking and house to load 5 songs.

None of these are fixes. The app is a nightmare currently for tons of users.  Please check the endless threads on the TrueSpotify subreddit.

Nothing has been fixed, if anything the app is performing worse than ever before.  Extremely slow

same issue on my end - google pixel 9 pro, plenty fast for most things but spotify is unusuably slow with my account. works somewhat better with an account with much less library items and usage overall but still slow. playing a song, clicking anything seems to take seconds, sometimes up to a minute in more extreme cases. it feels like something is blocking what i assume to be some sort of main processing thread, because all actions will be blocked (like loading artworks in lists, clicking the three dots icon, player actions etc..) and it eventually works and does everything at once. would love to troubleshoot further, not sure if i can be useful but feel free to let us know if there's anything we can do 🙂 logcats, traces etc..

I see spotify is doing absolutely NOTHING to optimize & fix their app. I'm paying for SPOTIFY PREMIUM & yet their app loads slower than a windows machine booting up on an HDD.

This is uncalled for. I'm on Android 14 & all my other apps are snappy & quick except spotify. I'm considering switching apps or finding alternatives if Spotify is unable to improve performance, load times, & playlist stability.

What do I mean? When I open spotify & try to click on a playlist, the songs dont load. When I try to click on my library, the library doesnt immediately load, nothing is snappy. This has been happening for months & I'm fed up with it.

Why are we focusing on everything else except performance & optimization? If you want to keep my subscription, I want to see performance changes that decrease load times to instant.

Okay, so for probably one week no, the android app has been painfully slow, EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING takes multiple seconds up to sometimes even minutes. Open the app to home Screen? Wait 30 seconds. Accidentally closed the app? Wait 20 Seconds. Clicked on a song once to play it? Either have it play instantly or press 20 times more until it reacts. Just wanna skip a song? Wait 20 seconds for the app to either quit or Skip the song. Open the settings? Nah, wait almost a minute. Everything, i think you get it by now. And its no issue on my end, a phone reset just for the porpuse of testing has also shown exactly the same issues. As you might guess, basic troubleshooting didnt resolve anything. Web Browser? Mostly fine. Desktop App? Also fine, i think. Was decently acceptable yesterday, but now its fully back again, maybe even Worse. This Seems to not be a solo case of an error too, almost every day i encounter new errors that make some part of spotify unusable, either a new Bug that made me had to LITTERALLY DELETE every local file in my library for spotify to play over connect, made the library just not openable, or even had to switch entirely to the Web Browser on phone for multiple days cause the entire app didnt load. I could give so many more example of Spotify just not working at all, but I think you get the point. Spotify has way too many Bugs and outages right now. Please fix your service before adding new bloaty features. I really loved spotify cause it just worked 24/7, but now im on my way back to downloading mp3s cause of how often spotify simply not works. This is not meant as useless Rant on how bad spotify has become, but instead is a Plead of me and many more unhappy users for yall to make your service usable again. Just go ahead and look at the endless unhappy posts in r/Truespotify screaming all the bugs at you. Please dude, I dont wanna switch away from spotify but its just not worth 13€/m when i just wanna listen to my music. I dont wanna deal with new Bugs every day.

Same issue and pretty sure it started around the same time. What's worse is after the AT&T outages recently (specifically 2 days ago) i noticed that the app will not open at all without a cellphone signal. At my workplace its loud and we all have speakers blasting music usually. But not that day as no-one had service. Even the landlines were down. I assumed I was fine due to having multiple playlists downloaded plus songs already saved on my phone and sd card. But Spotify goes to black screen, no text, no music. Even if I tried to press play from a Bluetooth device which normally plays the lsst song I accessed. Nothing happens. 

Kinda defeats the purpose of downloading playlists if they won't play offline when theres no cellphone data. Whats confusing is after getting cell service it works fine (besides the slowness) even in airplane mode. So in airplane mode is it still detextinf wifi or cell services. And when it truly cant, it disable the app? Makes me wonder what types of data is it sending and receiving since something prevents it from working without being able to communicate with the internet.
