Library Song Limit

Library Song Limit

Spotify staff-

I recently reached the 10,000 song limit in my library, which is a great disappointment.  As a loyal customer for over 3 years, I have thoroughly enjoyed your product, so much that I have shifted to using it as my main source of music collection.  There must be some way that you can enable "super users" to continue to file and organize their music over this arbitrary limit.

There may not be many of us, but (and this should be obvious) those of us that actually reach this limit are your core constituents.  We are passionate about music and your product, and I can tell you that I have gotten at least 20 people to sign up to Spotify Premium over the past couple of years as I have raved about it.  I will continue to do so, with the caveat that Spotify just isn't yet ready to become a full-fledged music library of record for musical aficianados, much to my disappointment.

One more thought: You may find interest in the creation of some type of super user account that would allow you to charge SLIGHTLY more for those of us who desire or require a higher song limit (say, unlimited...) without having to alter the accounts of your millions of users.  Bottom line is that unlimited should mean unlimited, especially in this age of big data, but a 10,000 song cap with no alternative is absurd.

Thanks

Can you tell if there is a way to only add albums, to circumvent this limit?

In general there is 10 tracks on an album, and I thought I was mostly adding albums, but now I have reached this limit as well. (Yes, I might have 1000 records in my collection.)

Just click the 1st song in an album. When that artist selected you will get
a list of 1st song of each album. The click 'album' and walla the whole
album appears.

But what do you get with this solution?

Saving an album you get it in albums list. So you can go there and listen ricently added albums, for example. But with added first song, you need to go to some artist (and it can be not new artist in your lib!), find it and open album based the first song?

So its simpler to have playlist with albums songs...

So I started using spotify about two or three weeks ago, it seemed cool so I signed up for premium but I have already hit the maximum number of "Liked" songs.

Not downloads, but just songs that I "like". I'm really confused as to why this limit exists and I have scoured this thread and others for a reason, to no avail.

I really am considering cancelling because what am I even paying for? I had almost half million "Likes" on Last.fm with no issue and that only cost $3.99/mo (maybe why they don't exist anymore but still). I get why you cant download everything for offline listening, that makes perfect sense. But can you not just allow us to mark as many songs as we enjoy listening to? It seems like a really unreasonable thing to cap.

I have been a loyal premium user for years. Really from the start of Spotify in Netherlands. Now I canceled premium. Transfered library using free Song Shift app to Apple Music.

Same here... I read online that Apple Music has 100,000 song limit. My guess is that the Spotify team is relying on some outdated data model to store the song IDs associated with specific users, as their services exploded in popularity they just decided that % users that will reach this limit and cancel subscription is far smaller cost than re-engineering some old part of their code.

Just wrote to the author of this article (https://www.consumerreports.org/music/spotify-vs-apple-streaming-music-face-off/) which was just published in Consumer Reports. Hopefully he can get it to the right people at Spotify executive management.

"Just read your Spotify vs. Apple Music article. Great analysis - though one HUGE issue with Spotify is the 10,000 song limit in Your Library. There are tons of complaints on their community message boards from people like me who easily reach that limit. The limit is not for downloaded songs - it’s simply for inclusion in your library. If you think about it, only 1,000 albums at an average of 10 songs per album, easily reaches their limit of 10,000 songs. I wish Daniel Ek knew how much angst there was amongst their Premium paying subscribers with this huge issue. Thanks for anything you can do to push it!"

Yea, I've recently reached THE limit, did google it, twited them... Stages, dunno what step I'm in. Really FRUSTRATED and DISAPPOINTED with this long term situation.

Please do keep us updated!

Is the same true for the 3333 song download limit - that you can 'undownload' a song to make room for another?
I have to say, I am also extremely displeased with the 10 000 song limit. When I discovered Spotify I thought for sure I would subscribe, but when I learned about the song limit it was a deal breaker. That is inadquate even for the average music lover. If you choose to have artists full albums or discographies you will fill that in no time. Seems like such an unnecessary thing to be limiting and even if choosing to place a limit, that is so far on the low end it is almost useless for many listeners. The benefit of an increased song limit for the users that keep spotify going is much greater than any draw back for spotify.

I have seen the previous communication stating their lack of intent to increase this 10,000 song limit, and want to be another voice clamoring for it.  Perhaps if enough of us that are frustrated with an otherwise great product express our opinions, Spotify will feel compelled to present a solution to this issue.

Thanks

Had Spotify premium for a week.  Building library and less than 1/2 way through got the 'LIMIT" reached.  Now have to spend many more hours deleting files  so I can add more of favorite artists.  Of course there's work arounds, all requiring more hours juggling library to stay within file limit.  Looking at Apple Music.  Their limit is 100,000?? duh!

Have solution.  Add only 1 (one) song from each album to your library.

Don't 'save' each album as a whole.  When clicking on an album you can go the option to view whole album and play or manage playlists.  Works for me.

I just signed up yesterday after getting aggravated with Google Music's Android Auto support... Started putting in my music, hit the limit  and I'm already back to Google. This is pure disregard for music loving customers, plain and simple.

This is exactly the reason why I switched to Google Play Music, even while Spotify has a more beaubeaut user interfacei

A limit of 10.000 songs is so 1990

In that case I would urge you to add your vote to the post I linked above. Any topics on this board will likely not be seen, and any new posts in the ideas board relating to that issue will simply be merged into that thread. Best of luck!
