Playback stops after playing few songs on Echo devices

We've received multiple reports where repeat stops working & playback pauses after a few songs on Amazon Echo devices.

Hey there folks,

We've checked with our teams and this should now be fixed for everyone 🙂

Make sure that your Echo device is up-to-update, should you still experience issues. You can do this by asking Alexa for an update with the voice command - "Alexa, check for updates".

If the above doesn't do the trick, and the issue persists, we recommend that you create a new thread on our Help Board, so we can look into it further.

Cheers!

Sorry but this issue is not fixed. Spotify will not play continually on my Echo anymore. I’ve tried all the solutions and nothing is working. I pay for premium service, it’s only me using it with one Echo in the house. It’s really annoying😡😡😡😡😡😡

It looks like there has been a lot of people experiencing this in the last week or so. So I bet it's a bug that they'll fix shortly.

I didn't have this issue until after cancelling Spotify premium.

I told my alexa to do software update.

And since then (7pm this evening) it's been playing songs and white noise playlist for my son for the past 2 hours.

I'd say it's working again for me at least.

just tell Alexa “check for software updates” there’s a new one and ever since then my Alexa has been working. Been playing Spotify for about 3 hours now and no pauses

I haven’t even asked for an update on my old 2nd gen echo dot, just thought I’d try it about 2 hours ago and been playing ever since, so seems it’s automatically updated on mine. Thank fffffff. Been driving me crazy for a long time without it at night.

Well done Spotify for assisting with resolving this issue on a product that is not your own!  The feedback from you has been a bit limited but at the end of the day we have a result and that's the main thing.  As someone who works in a similar field, I know all too well how a simple change in software on one brand of devices can take a lot of time and effort to actually identify and resolve when it affects other systems.  Cheers Spotify engineers.

@Womble0fwinton before we praise spotify. The issue is not on amazon side but on spotify side (occured and still occurs on non amazon devices), the amazon skill is written and managed by spotify. The communication was a near-zero experience with lots of rookie mistakes. Also, the issue is not resolved in 100%. From someone who also works in a same field.

Finally the update was available last night and seems to have fixed the issue on my devices.

While it’s good the issue was fixed finally by Spotify, the lack of communication on this issue was truly frustrating. It appears the Spotify engineers don’t take seriously or monitor these community threads at all. The moderators raising these issues with the Spotify engineers obviously aren’t taken seriously either. If Spotify truly cared about the community and the feedback, you would think they would look to engage with the users more and learn some lessons from this outage. I don’t believe that will happen however.

so in my case, if I ask Alexa for software-update, she says the software is up to date and there is nothing to update. Maybe amazon only rolled out the update for the American market? I'm located in Germany. Is there any information for the update for the European / German market? The issue is still going on. What's the fixed Software-Version number?
