Slow loading and performance issues

We've received reports about increased load times when performing actions like opening a playlist/menu or playing content. This affects primarily (but may not be limited to) mobile devices running Android and iOS.

Hey there,

If you're experiencing this issue, make sure to add your vote and share the following info (if you haven't already):

  • Your device's make, model and OS version;
  • The version of Spotify you're running;
  • The troubleshooting you've tried so far.

We'll keep you posted here as soon as we have any updates.

Cheers 🤘

Spotify just took a full monthly fee from my card even though the app doesn't work well. That has continued for the last three months. Despicable. ☹️

This has been going on for months, they've pushed at least 2 updates so far and neither one has done a single thing to address the issues. I can't imagine many premium users really feel they're getting any value out of this, so I imagine most will be leaving this app very, very soon.

They raise the price and tell users its to make "Premium better". I dont believe it.

I'm using Chrome on a mac and last few days havn't been able to play anything or save anything. Tried Firefox and it works fine on there. Everything is up to date.

I did a bit of investigating this file seems to mess up web-player.f6f1978d.js and ChatGPT suggested this info should help pin point the issue:

Issue: Web Player fails to play or save tracks on Google Chrome ("Something went wrong" error), but works perfectly on Firefox.

Console Findings:
- Error messages state "Source map failed to load" and generic connection alerts.
- Isolated the failure to the async production Webpack bundle fetching interceptor:
"t.apply(l.O, r).then(async t => (e ? e(t) : (0, u.aj)("fetch", { ...p, endTimestamp: 1e3 * (0, o.zf)(), response: t }),"

Suspected Bug: V8 engine exception handling an unhandled promise rejection inside the telemetry fetch logic (potentially a type/null mismatch with object spread '...p' or engine timer 'o.zf()').

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Oops - I thought everything was up to date - but I obviously hadn't relaunched Chrome and once I did, it started working. So sorry about that.

Cheers

Issue
Spotify is still slow slow and sometimes when I try to load playlists they come up as "This Playlist Is Not Available" It takes me anywhere from 20 seconds to a minute to load, play and pause songs. This is starting to get annoying to the point I have had to stop using Spotify and use alternatives. I pay for premium for my plan every month and the issue is still not fixed. I first noticed Spotify lagging around July after one of the new updates and I am still surprised it has not been fixed still. This is frustrating for me as I use it to relax and to listen to while driving, but since its had issues.

I have not been able to use it. I have a lot of music and liked songs, but it was working perfectly fine up until a few months ago. If an update on the situation can be announced or an optimisation patch could come out soon. It would make life a lot easier rather than having to wait for music to load like its on dial up.

With AI coding tools these days able to accelerate defect detection and bug fixes so much that developers are largely hands off, I can't help but wonder why this isn't being addressed. Perhaps it simply isn't affecting enough people to warrant priority.

Regardless, I'll be trying out alternate services and take my business there. Maybe if enough people do that they'll start listening.

Anyone have alternate suggestions? I need mobile music streaming, lossless download to device, suggestions / easy discovery, family plan, and works with Alexa. The ability to filter out or easily identify AI slop is a bonus.

Seriously, how is it possible that this issue still hasn't been fixed? The Spotify App on my phone is basically unusable. The loading times are unbelievable: 30 seconds to 1 minute. And even then: Navigating between different playlists is so slow and lagging.

Device Information:
Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G (SM-A528B/DS)
Android 14 (One UI 6.1)

Spotify version: 9.1.78.2218

Like others have written here: It's probably time to overcome the lock-in-effect of this app and move on to a competitor.

Hi I’ve noticed this over the last few weeks, but it’s been pretty bad over the last few days especially. iPhone 15 pro max, iOS 26.6.1, latest Spotify version (I update all my apps once a day)

Same on android and pc, this has been going on for over a month without Spotify doing anything to fix it. Guess it's time to move to Apple music
