Downloading random tracks when download is turned off

The download button is turned off however random songs keep downloading without me asking Spotify to download and using my data. How do I stop this?

All the guides I've seen tell you to delete your ipod library and then sync with spotify but I don't want to delete all my songs currently on the ipod. I have an ipod nano 7th generation and a premium spotify account if that helps.
