Slow loading and performance issues

We've received reports about increased load times when performing actions like opening a playlist/menu or playing content. This affects primarily (but may not be limited to) mobile devices running Android and iOS.

Hey there,

If you're experiencing this issue, make sure to add your vote and share the following info (if you haven't already):

  • Your device's make, model and OS version;
  • The version of Spotify you're running;
  • The troubleshooting you've tried so far.

We'll keep you posted here as soon as we have any updates.

Cheers 🤘

I have "failed to load" showing up when I try to search. I have lagging when I try to go to the next song. I have download playlists not playing when im not connected to the internet. Its been this way for 2 months. The app is extremely slow and difficult to use

I have this problem myself. It's been almost a month since songs started taking a long time to open and skipping tracks in the queue.I started experiencing this problem the last time I updated the app. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times, cleaned the cache and data, and done everything I could think of to make the app work properly, but nothing has changed. When I clear the cache, it seems to start loading and playing songs smoothly, but within minutes it starts working slowly again, freezing in the middle of songs and skipping tracks.They told me it might be because I have many playlists, which I do. But I already had many playlists before this problem started and it worked perfectly. They also said it might be because my phone is out of date (which is true — I have an older Samsung Galaxy).But I tested it on my other, brand new Samsung Galaxy, and Spotify still worked slowly and froze.They also suggested changing my listening quality, which I did, but nothing changed.

Your device's make, model and OS version:

Moto Razr 2024 on android 16

The version of Spotify you're running;

version 9.1.72.1891

The troubleshooting you've tried so far.

Messing with offline mode, data saving. No change.

Chief complaints: My offline playlist has quit working regardless and I'm also experiencing major delays in search, playing playlists. I traveled to the UK/eu the last 2 weeks and it was unusable on long flights. It's pretty busted. This can't be worth $10-20 a month in this economy. If this is some kind of outage, we should all be getting a free month, cuz the features that are so basic are not working.

  • Your device's make, model and OS version; using spotify for windows 10
  • The version of Spotify you're running; running the current version of spotify, cannot figure out at all how to check in the app where that version number is, the faq has an outdated method that doesn't work
  • The troubleshooting you've tried so far. tried both windows store and spotify direct download versions, reinstalled the app 3 seperate times after that while clearing all local files for spotify too, disabled local files and hardware acceleration, restarted computer many times as well. started 2 or 3 days ago, has always been pretty slow on the phone but never like this on pc. takes forever to load an artist page or playlist, skips songs randomly, it's genuinely unusable.

My version is 9.1.70.1906. I use an iPhone 16 pro max. Recently my playback stops after only a few songs. It is taking a long time for search to open. I have a lot of playlists that are 2 hours(approx) each. This has started over the past 2-3 weeks.

Spotify would not load on all three of my devices when on Wi-Fi. I have to use cellular data to load.
Phone: iPhone 16, iOS18.6.2, Spotify version 9.1.70.1906

Tablet: iPad Pro 3rd generation 11inch, iOS26.5.2, Spotify version
Computer: MacBook Air 2022, M2 chip, MacOS14.8.2, Spotify version 1.2.95.453.g0eeebbed
For troubleshooting, I have tried reinstalling Spotify, reconnecting to the internet on all three devices, checking the DNS and IPv6 settings. It has been three days since this issue occurred.

Issue

I have also had the issues with Spotify being rather slow and not feeling optimised at all. When I am on PC sometimes the playlists fail to load and its really annoying. It used to be to be much better, but now it feels like its just slow.

Hi,

My Spotify keeps pausing. I have a Google Pixel 9a running Android 17, and my Spotify version is 9.1.72.1891 player release 2. I just removed around 10 album downloads to free up space on my phone, and my phone just did a security update. It was working fine before but now it pauses every 20 seconds.

Problems started immediately after updating the app three days ago. Everything was perfectly normal until that. Now it's very slow or completely unresponsive, playlists are not working (it takes forever to start the next song etc.)... even scrolling through a playlist or a podcast feed is practically impossible because of the constant lagging. I've tried most of the usual tricks everyone else has mentioned.

The PC app is also lagging horribly. It takes 10 seconds to launch, and sometimes there's a 5-6 second delay when switching downloaded tracks or adjusting the volume.
