Slow loading and performance issues

We've received reports about increased load times when performing actions like opening a playlist/menu or playing content. This affects primarily (but may not be limited to) mobile devices running Android and iOS.

Hey there,

If you're experiencing this issue, make sure to add your vote and share the following info (if you haven't already):

Same here, and I've actually dug into this pretty deep over the past couple of days. On my end it's not just launch delay, it's sustained high CPU usage (40-60%) even completely idle, no playback, which is what's causing the lag when switching tracks or loading playlists that you're describing too.

I used Process Explorer to isolate it, and the clearest test was disabling my network adapter entirely: CPU dropped to under 1% almost instantly (first screenshot), and shot back up to 30%+ as soon as I reconnected (second screenshot). So whatever's happening is tied directly to network activity, not local files, cache, or hardware.

What confirmed the root cause for me was using the desktop app's built-in "Report Issue" feature (there's a CPU/battery option), which generated a session log showing 440 "High request latency" warnings in a 27 minute session, with request times up to 29 seconds hitting guc3-spclient.spotify.com. A single playlist load request took 26 seconds. That lines up exactly with the lag both of us are describing.

Started for me around v1.2.95 and it's still present in 1.2.96.507. I already went through Spotify support with this evidence and they said their technical team is looking into it, so hopefully more reports here with the same pattern helps get it prioritized.

We pay a lot per month compared to Apple Music. Yet, Spotify has been so laggy and slowly its unbareable to use lately!

Please fix the lag and the poor performance of your app cause many users are sick of it!

For about the last 4 weeks I have experienced poor performance from the Spotify app, including:

  • Slow searches
  • Slow to list playlists
  • Lag before playing media of up to a minute

I have tried clearing the app cache, restarting phone and force-stopping the app. None of these has made any difference.

Update: Since yesterday (14/1) morning, Spotify is working normally again :-). Nothing I've done!

This is unberable, I can't take this anymore. Some years ago someone advised me to use Yandex music app. Does anyone knows if that's a good one?

When i open the app, it loads for 16 seconds. the same thing happens when i open any part of the app (including my playlists)

as for the playback, sometimes when the song ends, the audio stops 6 seconds before the track ends and loads longer, before the next song loads seconds later. specifically for playlists

  • Your device's make, model and OS version: Pixel 9, Android 17
  • The version of Spotify you're running: 9.1.72.1891
  • The troubleshooting you've tried so far: Force stopped the app, and cleared cache and data to no avail. App loads extremely slowly, and when playing Spotify on a different device it takes a few minutes for the app to pick up on it. This has been an issue for me for about a week or so.

Have noticed as of lately, the app begins to hang on resuming/pausing, navigating the app and interacting with the app as a whole. It tends to lag/hang for 1 to a few or several seconds before it becomes fine again. I will admit it may be due to an excessively large approximately 5000 song Liked Songs playlist, but these issues have not been happening until recent Spotify updates

I've tried clearing cache, restarting the app/my computer, reinstalling and many more pointless fixes that I'm beginning to believe it is a software issue. A Spotify issue.

Hello,

My app won't open, it just shows blank.

Tried different internet connection but still no way.

I need help, please 🙏

I collect music from around the world. I have lots of music and I pay premium. I can not even enjoy the music, because of how bad the lagging issues are. It feels like the 80s/90s again with how long its taking as its like dial up just to get a song.

It clearly feels less optimised which needs to be addressed ASAP.
