Your device's make, model and OS version:

Samsung galaxy S23; One Ui 8.5, Android 16

The version of Spotify you're running;

9.1.72.1891; know for sure that all of this was also present in (i think) 9.1.72.1888

The troubleshooting you've tried so far.

Probably everything possible without root or laptop. Name something, I'll very likely have already done that.

tl;dr: everything i could think of and do without a laptop or root.

I have not seen anyone in this thread adress the issue of spotify munching through battery VERY quickly, correct me if im wrong. Were talking about 15-20% per hour, which is way higher than the normal 7% per 8 hours so about 1% per hour. I can also see spotify peaking at 80% CPU and idling at around 40-50%.

Unfortunately, im on vacation right now so i cannot provide anything other than these texts, although i will try to answer any questions if a spotify mod wants to reach out.

Im very tired of having to live with this version of spotify so im eager to help fix it.

The Android app is significantly less stable and slower than the iOS version. Bugs and unfinished features occur constantly, and most of them are easily reproducible. I genuinely don’t understand how the development team can be so careless with testing the app and so dismissive of such a large portion of the user base that uses Android. And, of course, users are still being charged a monthly subscription fee for this experience.

I’ll now try to describe the issues that concern me in more detail:

Black screen on the home screen

Sometimes the app displays a black screen on the home screen until you switch to another tab and then return to the home screen.

Offline mode is completely broken

You need to redesign it from the ground up.

First, when there is no internet connection, you cannot listen to your downloaded tracks because the app will display a black screen for a long time instead of allowing you to access your downloaded content.

Second, and I honestly don’t understand how this was implemented, the shuffle and repeat buttons DEPEND ON AN INTERNET CONNECTION when you use them from the playlist menu rather than from the player menu.

Third, consider a situation where your internet connection is unstable: mobile data is available for a while and then disappears. You are listening to your downloaded tracks (for example, in the Liked Songs playlist), and then the phone briefly reconnects to the mobile network. Somehow, this causes playback to reset and starts playing something else, such as a different playlist or Smart Shuffle.

The app does not remember your position in lists

For example, if you scroll to the middle of a playlist and then minimize the app or switch to another tab, when you return, the list jumps back to the top.

This happens with both vertical lists (playlists, radio, etc.) and horizontal lists.

Spotify is basically broken on two iPad devices - a 5th gen and a 6th gen. The 6th gen is a MR7G2X/A model, running ipadOS 17.7.11.

On both cases I have wiped the device and reinstalled ONLY Spotify. Plenty of storage space, full battery.

The experience is one of major user interface delays in the order of 10-30 seconds on an action.

Loading the app, the home page image placeholders can be watched loading one by one. Music control such as forward to next track seem not to work until the track changes 15+ seconds later.

After failing to identify wifi or internet issues, I download songs to the devices (normal quality), switched wifi and Bluetooth off, set output to device soeakers, switched Spotify to offline mode, reset network settings, and rebooted the device.

The issues persisted. Navigation was slightly better, but the UI remained painfully slow.

Other devices - iPad 9th gen, iPhone 16 plus, pixel 10 pro xl - work fine.

Ooops forgot:

Spotify version 9.172.1896, player release 2

The app's main page also launches awfully slow since the last updates.

One UI v8.5

Android v16

Spotify v9.1.72.1891

The troubleshooting you've tried so far:

I'm not having slowness issues with other apps, just Spotify. I have turned off many video related features in the Spotify app. I feel like Spotify is trying to do much with features I don't care about. I just want a smooth reliable music streaming experience. In the Spotify app, everything I click on takes time to load or open; this all used to feel instantaneous.

Hey @Yordan, hey @Vasil, hey Spotify mods.

Its been almost 2 weeks since the last update and or comment we got, almost 3 weeks since this issue has been reported by the community and more than 4 weeks since the issue appeared.

Im starting to wonder whether anything will happen at all...

Mind giving us some update in between Individual steps?

Or at least telling us that you all are currently Working on fixing it...

If you can, i would really like an estimation for when this will get resolved...

Not to sound mean, but I think we can all agree that an issue like that should never be so prominent for such a long period of Time, so... are you guys doing anything? Can we help out?

Great rest of day i guess...

Good-Idea-Lover

@beSKG I doubt they care enough about us.

Kinda ironic if you ask me. They just announced a price increase of €2 under the guise of "a better experience and working of the app".

Your device's make, model and OS version;

Fairphone 5 Android 15

The version of Spotify you're running;

Spotify version 9.1.72.1891 playee release 2

The troubleshooting you've tried so far.

Delete cache, restart phone. Force kill spotify. Nothing helps.

When I start spotify the usrinterface hangs for several minutes with a mostly black screen. After it finally starts it hangs again when I open my library and want to see my playlists. This also takes several minutes.
