Music won't play unless app is open

I'm playing some banging tunes, but if i want to do something else which means closing the app, the music stops until the app is reopened. This wasn't an issue on my 4s but has been since I got my 6. Any ideas?

Just started my premium trial, but can't play specific songs!

I just got the Spotify app on my iPhone 6, and immediately started my Premium 7-day trial, but I cannot play specific songs or albums in order. I thought this was one of the perks of Premium. How do I fix this?

Can't skip tracks using garmin vivosmart.
